Another thought!  There actually are a lot of overhead or high-angle photos of 
various passenger cars out there.  The Red Book series by Randall (especially 
the P/S & ACF cars) has many of these types of shots and the various books on 
specific RR rolling stock usually also have additional pics.  Of course, every 
road is different and car roofs varied by car type as well.

The Mid-Century (the vastly improved Ladd Houda line) resin parts line that Bob 
McCarthy carries exclusively includes a set of roof vents (3 different types).  
They are for P/S and ACF cars and are really very well done.  There are many 
other types of vents that are not produced in S, however some HO and O vents do 
work as well.   Same for our comments earlier on the underbody details.

What we REALLY need is someone to provide (Bill Lane?) the ladder support 
grabs/brackets for the passenger car roofs.  Most cars had one on either side, 
together with a standard grab iron above it.  It's the same type of 
grab/bracket that was applied to the nose of many F3 & F7 A units in the 60's 
for washing windows, etc.  I use a jig to make mine, but they are still a real 
pain to create, especially in mass, as an individual.
