Bill,

You better put down some newspaper so you don't scratch or get paint on your
dining table!

I am curious about the smoke box area on the boiler of your SWM 4-4-2. I
purchased one that had some detail parts removed. There are a few holes on the
sides and front of the smoke box. I talked with Fred Rouse for ideas and
ordered some parts to install before I repaint the smoke box. Could you take a
close-up photo of the front of the boiler and one of the sides of the smoke box
to verify the details? Thank you.

Hi all --

Well, this week I sent my wife off an a two week cruise to Hawaii. This makes
it the best time to load up the dining room table with projects too large for
my work table in the train room. So I did that – the coal transfer complex and
the engine house are both on the dining room table WAITING for me to get busy.
I actually did paint the machine shop floor of the engine house, but also part
of getting the machine shop done was finding details to put in it. Trouble! Not
only did I find those kinds of details, but I ran across some steam loco brake
shoes and hangers from eons ago (before S) that I thought might make good
replacements for the puny things that were original on my SWM 4-4-2. And that
took all Saturday evening. No structure progress, but the loco is looking a lot
better! (photo) The new shoes and hangers are about twice the size of the
originals. It now looks very similar to the real thing in the brake department.

Have fun!
