Hi Keith --

The 4-4-2 I have is one of the inside bearing trailing axle versions. If you
don’t have one of these, the details might have been different, but here are a
few shots. I can see that someday I will have to center the number plate! I
have already all but remade the loco -- new motor, rewired, fixed the gearbox,
set up the suspension (trued up the trailing axle bearing), different tender,
and extended the cab roof. I still have to renumber it and maybe add a couple
more details, then clear coat both loco and the tender to match (I also have to
renumber the tender-- it came from an Omnicon 4-6-0 which now has a USRA
tender. Another photo).

Yes, lots of newspaper is ready to go under the work on the dining room table!

Good luck!

You better put down some newspaper so you don't scratch or get paint on your
dining table!

I am curious about the smoke box area on the boiler of your SWM 4-4-2. I
purchased one that had some detail parts removed. There are a few holes on the
sides and front of the smoke box. I talked with Fred Rouse for ideas and
ordered some parts to install before I repaint the smoke box. Could you take a
close-up photo of the front of the boiler and one of the sides of the smoke box
to verify the details? Thank you.
