Bob, The shells I bought were purchased right from John and Arthur
Enhorning. My wife and I drove to Ludington, Mi. to hand pick them (I wanted
all straight topped shells, no humps). They only had A units by this time
though. (early 70's) They all came with E-8 number boards, but they supplied me
with enough translucent plastic angled boards for the shells I bought. Just
gluing them in place would have left a gap all around the perimeter. So the
raised edge of the E-8 board needed to be sanded off first. They explained that
they had intended to illuminate them by drilling out the E-8 board first then
adding the plastic F boards. AFAIK, the Wabash Valley shells did not come with
the F style boards.
