John,

I'm with you brother! My thing is why in the hell aren't there more guys wanting the PS 4750 cuft covered hoppers! I give a flyin rats you know what if American Models has one. It's based on an old design who's numbers are dwindling in the real world at an alarming rate. The PS 4750 hopper spans 4 decades, Alan and the rest of you AF guys, 40 years. You see them on almost every manifest train across the USA and Canada and Mexico! HO has at least 15 different 3 bay covered hoppers on the market and we can't even get together to get 1 new one manufactured! All because of the good ole boys club that the AF guys have built up over the years. That and the S is for Steam only guys!

John, I would love to see some more power come out like you have listed. Hell, what about some Alco too while we're at it! C424's, RS11's, RS32's and lets get a good S2 or S1 on the market too! As far as building kits, I'm all for it! this is "Model" Railroading for god's sakes! It's bad enough that the manufacturing sector (Jim not you) has taken the modeler out of the hobby by producing nothing but ready to run. God forbid I sit down and actually create something from a kit! As far as the last question goes, Alan I would love to sell you a truck load of the Life Like grass mat rolls. I'm sure that with AF that's about the extent of prototype scenery you guys go to.

I'm luck, I get to run and deal with the real thing everyday! I've never seen a flange in real life that is almost a foot deep or a coupler that's the size of a Chevy Pickup.

Hey John, I'm still going to push the PS Covered Hopper! It's a necessity for anyone that is modeling from 1965 to today! And Jim, I know how you work and I agree with the philosophy most of the time, but think about the future and bringing new modelers to the scale as well. Not just the ones that are on this list. There's more than 125 modelers of S in the world and if they don't know about your products.......???? Maybe try a little advertising in Model Railroad Hobbiest Magazine. It's an E-zine and has a far reaching audience.

My $4.37 worth!

Tom,
1. Although I model 1959, I grew up in the 70s and 80s, so I occasionally buy a model of a prototype from that era because it reminds me of what I saw as a kid. I will be buying some SD-45 when SSA releases them. I also like intermodal cars, so I will buy them as well if any are ever produced... especially Gunderson Twin Stack <http://www.google.com/search?q=gunderson+twin+stack&hl=en&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=4gKLUMO1F-qA2AX5g4D4Cg&ved=0CDcQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=646> cars! YEAH BUDDY! Some SD-7s, SD-9s, SD-35s (and SDP-35 variant) and SD-40s would be great, too! And some GE C-trucked diesels and some U-36-Cs and some C-30-7s and... and... and... ... ... 2. I LOVE building kits. But I have to admit that it is getting much harder for me to do so as my eyesight is fast deteriorating.
3. Do I, of all people, really need to answer #3? LOL!

    . . . . . . . Alan Lambert needs to "realize" that you (and us scale
    modelers) don't care about HiRail . . . . . . . .

Another question has been bugging me, maybe others -- How many S
    gaugers
    are there who are -

    1. Modern modellers
    2. Inclined to build kits
    3. Still using over-size flanges & maybe over-sze couplers too.
