That's a big mis-understanding of cause and effect. If the manufacturers
wanted to build S scale covered hoppers they wouldn't let the old Flyer guys
stop them. S scale has nothing to do with flyers, they are too separate things.
Manufacturers could build S scale trains if flyer never existed,If they aren't
it's because they don't see the advantage of a size between HO and O scales, if
they truly got it they'd already have jumped on the opportunity.
To have a strong future S must stand as a scale size not a descendant of toy
train line, and to do that it will need more exposure to mainstream modelers
and more publicity based on it's size advantages. Stuff like Trevor's new
Canadian layout are what will catch the attention of the greater hobby
