Ken, You are correct about lead sheets--also vent stacks on your roof
used to be made of lead. Lead sheet formed into a box shape is the best
for speakers. Loy's Toys used to sell lead sheet for that very purpose.
The dusk mask and hand washing that Ken mentions, is important. I don't
know how many years we sat over at Jack Troxell's club workbench
munching on potato chips and filing Stewart castings--guess that tells
you something 'bout me!

A source for lead.... as thin sheets, it was used as sound insulation
in ceilings years ago. As buildings are upgraded, those sheets are
now surplus. They shape nicely and are easily cut with a scissors. I
have a sheet or two from those days.
Wash your hands after use, and use a dust mask?
