Hi boB --

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I would bet that the whole circuit board gets
removed, but since I don’t have one of these things, I can’t say for sure.

The big project for this week was to get the heavyweight passenger train to
hang together. This is a long train and HEAVY even thought it has relatively
few cars – 4 express cars, RPO, 2 baggage, and 8 passenger cars (3 plastic).
It is at about the limit for Kadee 802/808 coupler strength when going around
curves up a 2+% grade, hauled by an all powered AM PA-B-A set, as one knuckle
did fail, though I think it was flawed or damaged. It is VERY sensitive to
coupler height mismatch, so all cars got adjusted (not fun) to EXACTLY the
correct height and it now stays together. I cannot imagine Kadee 5’s staying
coupled... While this is fun to watch, I have no intention of running it as
a regular train. It is too long (more than a 25 car double headed steam
freight) and it will be broken up into smaller “dedicated” trains (milk, night
mail, etc.) which won’t require 6 motors and 18 powered axles to pull.

Have fun!

The SHS NW-2 that I purchased on Ebay arrived yesterday, and to say I am
unimpressed would be an understatement. Way too much technology stuffed in this
thing to make it practical. The last thing I have done is install the DC plug,
per the instructions, so I can use it on SHABBONA. However, the plug I removed
does not come out and is tied to a circuit board in the top of the body, and
now there is such a glop of wires that I cannot get the body back on the frame.
Worse, there is no way to place this plug so nothing binds. I wish I would have
gone with an AM S12. I do not need this trouble.

Any advice, including purchase offers, is welcome
