That's correct. The circuit board in the shell is hot glued in place,
and can be carefully pried out. That leaves lots of room for the DC plug.
The SHS SW and NW locos are, in my opinion, a wonderful design.
Bob, if you want more detail on installing the DC plug, including
pictures, let me know.

Hi boB --
Sorry to hear of your troubles. I would bet that the whole circuit
board gets removed, but since I don’t have one of these things, I
can’t say for sure.
Have fun!

---------------------------
The SHS NW-2 that I purchased on Ebay arrived yesterday, and to say I
am unimpressed would be an understatement. Way too much technology
stuffed in this thing to make it practical. The last thing I have done
is install the DC plug, per the instructions, so I can use it on
SHABBONA. However, the plug I removed does not come out and is tied to
a circuit board in the top of the body, and now there is such a glop
of wires that I cannot get the body back on the frame. Worse, there is
no way to place this plug so nothing binds. I wish I would have gone
with an AM S12. I do not need this trouble.
Any advice, including purchase offers, is welcome
