Yeah, My grandkids can grab new electronics and have them figured out in
minutes. A friend had a new grand baby a while back and the first time I saw it
the baby was in a baby carrier with a little stuffed toy and the next time I
saw her the baby was sitting on the floor playing with an Ipad.
I think as Ed mentioned that kids just don't get to see the same trains today
that we saw in our day. They might see commute trains or stack trains or unit
coal trains and have some interest in them but they really can't relate to
steam or 50's era freight train operations as they have never seen them. I've
noticed quite a few younger N scale modelers running long modern trains so the
interest is there and may migrate toward S scale as they get older and more
established in job and housing? .....DaveBranum
