Actually battery power is common for garden railroads. However, with all this talk about battery power, I've been thinking of how I could fit a pole or stringer (sawn timber rails) road on my S scale layout somehow, even for a short stretch. Although it might transload logs with a narrow gauge railroad, it would probably be broad gauge. Of course, it would be a lot easier and happen sooner if I didn't need to scratchbuild a Class A Climax for motive power.

I can see where battery power might well be the best choice in that kind of environment. Perhaps dusty attics, grungy garages and dirty basements are other ideal locations for a control system that does not require clean track. Ed Loizeaux ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
