buntfalke made a good suggestion yesterday and I bring it to your attention: can we merge the #sage-devel and #sage-support channels by forwarding all connections to #sage-support to #sage-devel?
I benefited a lot from #sage-support when I was starting out last year, and usually I tell visitors there to try #sage-devel, but occasionally folks drop by, ask for help, and quit before schilly or myself (aldebrn) or one of the few other idlers can get to them. I know it's not that hard to read the topic in #sage-support but enough people seem to not do so, prompting this suggestion. Perhaps also stating in the topic of #sage-devel that questions posted there will eventually get responses, and advising visitors to post to the sage-support mailing list for a more reliable method of getting answers. It's a small thing that might go far in conveying to beginners that there are people willing to help them.
