1. It would be fantastic if users eventually became developers.  Many 
developers started out that way.  "Developers" include people that write 
tutorials and documentation, etc, so that is within the reach of people 
that don't want to touch code.

2. How many people hang out on #sage-support?  A year ago, when I was 
around it every now and then, there was pretty much nobody on that 
channel, so it was easy to get the idea that sage was a pretty dead project.

Ideally, there would be two channels, mirroring sage-devel and 
sage-support mailing lists.  But if we don't have the manpower to keep 
two channels active, then it makes sense to me to combine them for now 
until the IRC user base grows.
