In my mind there is no such thing as a user who can't also potentially be a developer. The t-shirt I'm wearing *right now* says: "How do I do this in Sage? William: It is easy. Implement it and send me a patch." (This was from a 2006 summer grad student workshop.) > 1. It would be fantastic if users eventually became developers. Many > developers started out that way. How many people hang out on #sage-support? I think the reason #sage-support as a channel was created, was because about 1.5 years ago #sage-devel was dominated by massive almost nonstop Sage development discussion between gfurnish and mabshoff. Also, we had a lot of bug days, which made #sage-devel very busy with development discussion. Ideally, there would be two channels, mirroring sage-devel and > sage-support mailing lists.
