 Looks like I should take a look at the Clang changes we have so far (I
 currently don't recall any of them...), but we apparently have a "new"
 issue (which is present in at least MPIR 2.4.0, but presumably 2.6.0 and
 ''any older version'' as well), namely `configure` failing with `clang`
 and `-O0` (which gets added if `SAGE_DEBUG=yes`; `-O1` doesn't work
 either).

 Ivan Andrus reported this (for Sage 5.6.beta2) on sage-release, I've cc'ed
 mpir-devel in my [preliminary] reply.
