FWIW, with vanilla MPIR 2.6.0, after fixing only the first (yet another)
`configure` issue, so far MPIR builds, although a 32-bit version (due to
another broken test; I'll fix that later), with Clang 3.1, and passes its
test suite. (This is on a Linux x86_64 box.)
