I disagree, having irremovably crapped old headers or old shared libraries
into the Sage tree is always going to be a challenge for upgrades. I have
no interest in forever playing whack-a-mole there. Upgrades without "make
distclean" will be guaranteed to work when the build system can reliably
support them.
