 Upgrades without "make distclean" will be guaranteed to work when the
 build system can reliably support them.
 Upgrades worked fine up to Sage 5.13 (I always tested that) and that was
 with a much worse build system than we have now. And I guess this ticket
 here is maybe the first time since Sage 6.0 that upgrades break but it's
 also clearly a genuine bug which should be fixed.
