Hi Sebastian,
Good discussion on sage-devel. I suspected it would get a reaction, and
some good suggestions.
If you decide to do the assert-field stuff, lets do that on another
ticket. You don't need it here, do you?
If you wanted, the is_field changes could also go on another ticket (which
could be a very easy review) so that change was isolated, then the
charpoly stuff here could depend on it (just via comments in Trac for the
release manager) and just use it. Not necessary, but it'd leave a nicer
looking history. Your call.
