I have made a new version of the spkg:
[http://cage.ugent.be/~jdemeyer/pari-2.4.3.svn.p6.spkg]
It contains a patch for PARI bug 1079, fixing all doctest failures in
sage/rings/number_fields.
I also added a script "spkg-make" which automates the process of building
the spkg (it downloads the svn sources and so on). It *should* also fix
the bison issue. This spkg-make is highly experimental, but it works for
me. By all means, go ahead and tell me what you think of it.
