P.S.: I also wonder if we should really drop the removal of previous iconv
installations. Doing so can potentially cause trouble, while (properly)
attempting to remove old traces shouldn't [hurt].
(My comment regarding that only referred to the confusing description in
{{{SPKG.txt}}}, not to the code or the removal in general.)
