Exactly. And you'll never see any error message in case you redirected the
output to {{{/dev/null}}}.
If we only redirect {{{stdout}}} when sourcing {{{sage-env}}}, and its
error messages are printed to {{{stderr}}}, we could leave the {{{exit}}}s
in {{{sage-env}}}, but that's in general bad, since the sourcing script
might want to do something else or in addition in case of errors.
