 e=0 is a hard case since there are too many solutions -- do we want to
 return all a in the ring? or all invertible a?

 Similarly, do we allow negative e, where b must be invertible and
 b.nth_root(e) == (1/b).nth_root(-e), with an error if b is not invertible?

 Or do we want to specify in the documentation that e must be positive, and
 raise an error if not?
