Hello Saliganvkars, Dont know about data card etc, & if it helps all of you then fine. Let me say at the beginning that what I will type herebelow is my view based on the experiences of people I see around me & what I have read in the last 3 years. I dont profess to be a scientist nor Nostradamus...... by the way, any news of whether the prediction for 2012 is correct? I thought it was to be the year 3000 as the year 2000 would begin the beginning of the end....so was rather surprised to read about 2012 We too have network problems in Donvaddo especially with regard to BSNL...we seem to have less problems with IDEA ... however I would probably be one of those Saliganvkars who would not wish to have "the construction of a tower bang in the middle of Saligao right near the panchayat" irrespective of Ashley having "produced articles on wikipedia etc to show that there was no danger". Perhaps this construction could come up away from a residential area in Saligao? Are there any non-residential areas in Saligao (other than the hills ...I did hear that some dogs have taken up residence there too)since there seem to be a lot of buildings come up. A lot of things not proved in yesteryears (after all science was not that advanced then) have resulted in various health problems & have now been proved a bit too late. I feel the same goes for these towers, phone & mobile masts ..... a lot of studies have been carried out throughout the world, & here are still being carried out by a "special group" from overseas to prove that whatever is emitted is minimal (for how long do the emissions remain minimal over a long period of time to those living for that period of time???) & does not pose a danger to those living in the vicinity... but people in the villages & areas with these latest constructions springing up around them are suffering from problems that they didnt have before - mainly health problems. There was a study made in UK - (cant remember the name of the village or road) where people along that particular lane have serious health problems 20 years down the road - mainly cancer- attributed to the towers, masts, etc. The govt. body has banned these sort of things especially in residential areas because they are wiser now....too late for those poor people suffering there & their children, but not too late for their grandchildren enabling them to lead healthy lives hereafter......Inshallah! Ashley, there is always someone somewhere saying that everything is within limits or within the norm & hence doesnt pose a danger, but how many years & decades does the norm last...So if we are safe now, we should ensure that our grandchildren & greatgrand children are safe (especially now that everybody seems taken up with the environmental issues) & that is probably what the Saliganvkars are doing by opposing.
Anyway, my woes are your woes & the woes of the rest in Saligao - but I for one would go with the woes rather than the health problems & there is ample proof of the resultant health problems even if for now, the minority are suffering..... we need to look ahead....the progeny???!!! Werent the Green Peace Keepers telling us a while ago to keep our Planet Earth clean & safe for those to come?
