Hi Ashley I am not an expert on this subject, so am not able to authoritatively comment either way, let alone advise others on this matter.
But at a PURELY PERSONAL LEVEL, based on what I have read, I however do believe that with stipulated safeguards in place, the radiation risks of cell towers and cell phones are negligible, if any. And surely in a place like Saligao, where population density is not that high (as compared to towns/cities such as Panjim or Mumbai) it should be possible to find a suitable location for a cell tower at a reasonable distance from residences. As I understand, a reasonable distance is a greater-than-100-metres radius, which could be partially or totally achieved simply by height of the tower, such as on a hill. In any case various types of radiation (ELF, microwave, UV, etc) are actually all around us whether we like it or not (TVs, computer monitors, other electronic devices, wi-fi networks at work, lighting, etc, etc) -- much of modern communication and networking is based on similar technology anyway! Nevertheless, since I am not currently living in Saligao, it is inappropriate for me to either support or refute any debate on the matter of a cell tower in the village and I would obviously totally respect any informed decision that the full-time residents collectively arrive at. - Val > > > > Dear val > BSNL has for the last 2 years been promoting the construction of a tower > bang in the middle of saligao right near the panchayet, but residents seem > to be oposing it time and time again - most redently just amonth back in the > gram sabdha when the issue came up again. even though i produced articles on > wikipedia etc to show that there was no danger, resedents STILL opposed > it... > sigh....... > our woes continue > > Ashley > > > -- > Kind regards > > Ashley Delaney > > Devine Computers > Abreovaddo, Saligao, Bardez, Goa. > Ph: 9372240620 / 9823118321 > Branch: Opp Municipality, Shetye resicom, Shop #3.
