Sanjeev, My only point is that if we do not take up concerns such as
employment, self-employment, education (including technical education)
facilities, earning a livelihood and the like for Saligao, then the
politicians promising "development" (even if it's based on disrupting
all that exists) will have the upper hand.

I suspect much of what we debate is irrelevant to the bulk of the
population, who are concerned -- and rightly so -- with issues like
making the most of today and having some future for their children
tomorrow. FN

PS: Incidentally, Assagao has opened a technical school. Loutolim has
a very good institution for high-school drop outs. Siolim has a
German-initiated initiative to train girls as home-nurses and boys in
technical trades. What do we have? And I'm not talking about those who
are well enough equipped to take care of themselves....
