From a security point of view you need to open the port in the OUTGOING way only (most firewalls will understand that's normal that on an established connection going from the network to the internet an answer comes). You can still use a proxy (http/socks) to receive the messages. I assume the one on the alerts page which in this case is a PING and is set to 5, can't find any time out values on the MSN setup page   If MSN requires a Proxy, is this picked up from the settings within SA's proxy settings page? Assumed it was so these have been set too for proxy and port required by MSN.   Darrell.
