I thought the Coupe's mode 1 was already slowed down to speccy speeds... is this not the case (never having been a speccy user I've never bothered trying to find out). If not, a "slomo" device should be quite easy to make - a 555 timer pulling the /wait line low every now and then will slow the z80 down.
