Hi,

I've tested my setup on the Internet, and all works well except for
a rather difficult problem to diagnose. I have tested the connection
via my 26 kbps dialup and my son's h/s broadband connection. In both
tests the following occurs:

The broadcast will begin, play for about 7-10 seconds, stop, and then
after 7 -10 seconds, it restarts where it left off. I can understand
this behavior for my dialup connection, but surely it should not be
happening with a h/s broadband connection. Even with dialup, with
icecast's <burst-on-connect>0</burst-on-connect><burst-size>655535
</burst-size>, it makes no difference what they are set to.

I'm wondering whether the 'smart_crossfade':

smart_crossfade(start_next=0.4, fade_in=0.2, fade_out=0.2,
conservative=true, sstol)

has anything to do with this odd behavior. Checking the logs I see
the following line repeated for each ogg entry:

[smart_crossfade:3] Do not fade if it's already very low.
[smart_crossfade:3] Transition: crossed, no fade

At this point, I don't know whether this is a liquidsoap problem or
an icecast one. So, I don't know where I should look. It can't be
the player since two separate players exhibit the same problem.

Ideas where I should look?

I can't go online having it behave like this . . .

Thanks,
Andre
