Hi David,

First of all, thank you for thoroughly checking out this output issue by
accessing
my system.

As we discovered, this issue is not with Liquidsoap nor Icecast since you,
my son
on broadband in England, and my IP at hub.org had clean output with no
pauses for
both OGGs and MP3s.

After I did a traceroute, you noticed that, in my case, I had been routed
through
'tor':

5 tor-gw1-i3-22.986.vianet.ca (209.91.137.74) 477.902 ms 482.881 ms
487.864 ms

You asked the question:

"Are you using tor? It's known for slowing down traffic. For a stream,
it might even be that the stream gets re-routed even now and then.
Definitely not an helpful thing."

Comparing your traceroute to mine, there is quite a huge difference in
access time
through the routing. In your case, it varied bewteen 10 ms to 100 ms with
14 'hops'.
My access time varied between 100 ms and 490 ms, the majority in the high
400's with
17 'hops'.

This seems to be the root of the problem - routing through 'tor'.

As I mentioned, there is not much I can do about that. So, for potential
listeners
who are routed through 'tor' they will get output that pasuses after 17
seconds,
resumes in 8 seconds. This process repeats regardless of the connection
(dsl or
dialup.) if routing is through 'tor'.

I will do some more beta testing with different IPs checking with
traceroute.

Thanks again for taking the time to check things out, and for Liquidsoap.
What
an absolutely awesome application with fantastic, helpful developers. It's
the only
stream generator with all the features I need, plus many more that will be
very
useful as the Station grows.

I've added a 'powered by Liquidsoap' link to our main webpage.

Blessings,
Andre
