Oranges?? Wow! One of my dear departed Scotties used to scarf broccoli, but
this fruit thing is new to me. Sounds like it's pretty common, though.

My parents actually asked the same question of their vet. It is 
because of the nature of a dogs diet that they can eat the fruit 
(small controlled amounts) with no problems. As we all know, dog eat 
more than just meat (unlike cats). They safely eat rice, corn, beans, 
etc. The reason they like fruit is because it taste just as sweet to 
them as it does to us. My parent's Lab just LOVES oranges. She comes 
running and drooling whenever she smells orange anything. It's quite 
funny to see actually.
