Under windows, you can also simply make this change to the text file
bin/scid.gui
Search for "B50-B59". You'll need a decent text editor though. It's a big file.

Sorry, but not exactly  sure what you're trying to do. Can't you just
create a base with the desired ECOs (using a few OR-ed ECO searches)
then "open base as tree".

Yes, this scripts directory is full of gems. I'll have a look at them
properly one day.
Scid is a chess hackers dream.. just the quirky nature of TCL puts
people off a bit i think.
