The principal visual difference is the docked mode. I find scidvspc too unwieldy for comfort, as I explained here some time ago. I have reported problems about SCID to the SCID maintainer and had no response. Not even when I started working out patches. I have raised problems with scidvspc here and Steven has proven sympathetic responsive, and least some of the problems are fixed, and I have offered no patches. So, for some reasons I prefer SCID's UI, and Steven as a maintainer. Note that those who don't like the docked mode do have the ability to detach windows. I use SCID and SCIDvsPC on both Linux (mostly) and Windows. Both work equally well there, and Steven develops in a Mac, so there should be no compatibility problems for anyone. I suspect the Debian maintainer would be chuffed to have a maintainer who listen and who fixed problems. There are two principal requirements for software to be in Debian - licenses must meet Debian guidelines, and there must be a maintainer. The merge, however accomplished, won't change the licence. -- Santa ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Everyone hates slow websites. So do we.
