Hi Colin Thanks for the reply, I'll run fsck on all tonight. How do I 'thrash test', I am new to all this stuff. Is thrash an application or do you mean 'thrash' it literally with high load? (sorry for asking!!)
The physical memory is fairly new but the oldest 128 (of 256) was exposed to high RF Fields last year (machine used to control radio link, I know RF got into the machine as I got burned). Cheers again Mike > While the VM handling in 2.4 kernels is reported as dodgy, I think I'd want > to do some serious thrash testing on the physical memory and fsck all the > partitions, including swap space on this box. > > HTH > > Colin > > -------------------------------------------------------------------- > http://www.lug.org.uk http://www.linuxportal.co.uk > http://www.linuxjob.co.uk http://www.linuxshop.co.uk > -------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.lug.org.uk http://www.linuxportal.co.uk http://www.linuxjob.co.uk http://www.linuxshop.co.uk --------------------------------------------------------------------
