Godaddy is terrible. You get what you pay for.

I've setup a rails environment on MediaTemple and it was a tremendous  
pain in the ass.  They have a proprietary "mtr" application that you  
need to use to install anything.  Problem is you don't get any errors  
when gems install incorrectly and you end up on the phone with a tech  
just to get the environment setup.  I was on a slice and it was  
extremely slow.  I wouldn't recommend them.

I have a lot of friends who speak highly about joyent.  And if you can  
convince them you're a facebook application, they give you a year of  
hosting free.  Quite the deal.

Engine yard is an excellent route if you have the money.  They'll  
handle everything and you just concentrate on development.  That and  
they have some big names in the Ruby community working there.

I'm sure there's others but these are the ones I'm familiar with.

And I completely agree with Adam about Passenger (aka mod_rails).   
It's amazing, switched over from mongrel cluster and haven't looked  
back.
