[AI] One question regarding online shopping in other country while sitting in India
Hi friends, one of my friends is traveling from Belgium (Europe) to India, I want him to bring some of French perfumes for me, but the city (Leuven) where he is residing, has no big shopping centres. So I am looking the possibility of ordering the perfumes online and providing his delivery address so that it could be delivered to him from France. Therefore my question is that, how can I make a payment if I am ordering the perfumes online? I have SBI credit card. Will the payment be done using my credit card? Any idea amazon.com deliver products to Belgium? -- Mohib Anwar Rafay Phone: +919 555 555 765 Register at the dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile phones / Tabs on: http://mail.accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/mobile.accessindia_accessindia.org.in Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. Re: [AI] how can a blind enjoy vacations?
Without any doubt go for the trip. I say there are 2 reasons for which u should and must go are- 1: blinds should try to make presence everywhere, like I never leave any opportunity if god provides me to see any movie in theater. 2: outing is not just for seeing, it is for a change, enjoying food and sencing a new time table with break of normal rutine. Re: [AI] how can a blind enjoy vacations?
Sazid bhai, I am totally blind by birth, but I understand your question in terms of acquiring late blindness. What is important at this point for you is to gain an understanding of the places you are likely to visit. From that, find out what interests you. I love food, drinks, sea shore, adventures etc. This will help you identify your interests. What you will be missing out is the ability to see the beauty of the places. And the only realistic answer I have is to find out the description using questions as a means from the people you are visiting with. Since you are late blind, you will be able to form a picture in mind using that description. So in that sense, it will be a mixed feeling. Feel free to ask such questions, as it is very important to have such discussions. I would personally love to know your experience. hi, along with your bag, take some music with you And prepare yourself to entertain people with the jokes, if you are good singer, keep ready with some good songs, if you no to play the chess, carry the board along with you. Don’t sit alone, sit with group of people, and start interact with them. And Play some memory games. Possible, when ever you here the new word from the language, try to learn the meaning and put it in to the context. Enjoy the road side food. Take some risk for example, if the group of people going for swimming, join with them!!! Don’t hesitate to hold the cane with your jurny. Be independent as much as possible. When ever you are committing with the riskey incidences example, sky walk, swimming, etc, ask people to take the picture and share on the social networking sights. And make sure that, you are getting likes!!! Don’t expect the privacy from the people. If you are health conscious, keep some medicines with you. throe all your negative thoughts and start packing your bags. Overall after the jurny, the trip should be remembered in your life. Re: [AI] HDFC's Talking ATM Implementation: my experience
unfortunately, while designing accessibility companies don't ask or take suggestions from end users before designing. accessibility is our right and we must fight jointly. - Original Message - From: "Amar Jain" To: Sent: Saturday, December 10, 2016 2:05 PM Subject: [AI] HDFC's Talking ATM Implementation: my experience Dear All, As most of us are aware that the Reserve Bank of India (the "RBI" ) in July 2014 made it mandatory for banks to have 25% of their ATMs enabled for talking prompts so that blind customers among others can use ATM services independently. Sharing below my experience with HDFC Bank Limited (the "Bank" ) so far. 1. Braille Enabled ATM Card The Bank has put in a special card infrastructure in order for the Bank's customers to use this facility. In order for the Bank's ATMs to provide talking prompts, the customer is required to request for a Braille enabled ATM card. The card has no special features, other than a code to which the card is mapped so that the machine can detect that this card requires talking prompts. Due to lack of awareness about this product in the Bank, you may need to write to Managing Director, so that the senior management can help you get this card smoothly. The e-mail address is: managingdirec...@hdfcbank.com You willl be required to fill an e-edge form, for requesting this card, and the special card code will be mentioned on the form. Due to confidentiality reasons, that cannot be disclosed in a public domain. 2. Activation and Services Once you get the card, you will be required to activate the same using a 4 digit PIN. At the moment, my experience suggests that the card is not configured to activate using the one time password sent on your mobile. The card gives you Language Selection options between Hindi and English. Not all the services are enabled for talking prompts. In my experience, only Balance Enquiry, PIN Change, Cash Withdrawal, are some of the services which constitutes part of basic banking are enabled for talking prompts. 3. Some Observations From the Bank sources, I understand that approximately 1 ATMs are configured for this service. However, I have no official confirmation for the same. Apart from the same, I have following observations on the implementation: A. No security measures: the ATMs have no security measures such as dimming the screen, or ensuring that the audio is played only when the headphone is plugged in. This makes it slightly less secured. B. No prompts for Input and Errors: No prompts are provided while keying in the digits such as on the amount screen. However, it is helpful to note that at the same time no prompt is given while entering the PIN. Also, in my experience, some prompts are not provided for error screens such as 'card is invalid' if you try to insert a card, which is closed due to wrongly entered PIN / OTP after a number of attempts. C. Non-bank Customers Deprived: like most of the other banks, the non-bank customers i.e. those who do not have a HDFC account cannot make use of this network which deprives such customers from using ATM network of the Bank. Over all, while it is good to see that for compliance, a step is taken, but a lot is yet to be done. Note: the entire write-up is based on my personal observations and experience. Re: [AI] For Millions of Indians with Disabilities making online payments is tough call
100 percent I agree with ajay’s words. It all depends on the person’s intrest’s Its just my opinion, if the person is interested towards the development of app accessibility, they may directly contact the developer and suggest the bug fixes. For captcha they can provide the check box to solve it, and also the technology improved tremendously the OTP can red by device. For your kind information, the devolopers does not go with manual coding, they allways coded with some softwares. some times, they mess up with coding. Many devolopers does not no about the accessibility, aria, web standards. I have seen that, many n g o’s represent the visually impaired’ people for learnings, rather than the devolopers. Till now, no n g o has conducted the workshop for the devolopers. Many times, we will go for the razing the campains towards the employment, helth, mobility. Etc but not towards the accessibility. The visually impaired bank emploies has to educate the bankers to provide the fecilitys for the visually impaireds. And also, many times I have seen that, complaining on this list saying, not getting the banking fecilities. From the list members. cannt they approach the visually impaired bankers in the branch to awail the fecilities? Most of the people might not have the computer knowledge, but, many people has the knowledge of handeling the android devices. Each and every state/city has there own whatsapp group to educate on the android. There might chance that, 5 to 10 percentage of the people may still using the nokia/simbian devices. Why cant the group admins and the nearest visually impaired bank emploies take the chance to educate on the cashless transactions, online shopping., and other aspects? I think, before approaching the government or other sighted people, let us help other blind friends to educate with our knowledge. I don’t know, how was the survey conducted, the Zomato app is not much accessible. Compare to foodponda. In my view, the foodpanda is much accessible than the Zomato. The foodpanda has some issues with the buttons and the images. But, the Zomato is not much accessible for the screen reader users. Hi, The idea looks very interesting and promising. The idea of "neck strap" is very novel and great in my opinion. The gesture-based interaction with the app is also very nice. Surely, once you come up with the prototype, then you will get good feedback. All the very best for your work. On 12/10/16, Pabba ANU BHARATH wrote: > Hello All, > >I am Bharath. [AI] Rupee Checker App with a stable Holder
Hello All, I am Bharath. I work on designing android applications. These days I understood that visually Impaired users find very difficult to detect currency notes. There are so many apps available for solving this problem. But in our user study conducted with some users, I found that none of them use this apps. I found that the problem is, most of the users find difficult to hold mobiles in public places and scan the notes, So I thought of designing a neck strap that allows the mobile to hold mobile in a stable position. I am designing the app in a way that it can be opened by a gesture performed and it automatically flashes light when the light is dim. It also detect bunch of notes as follows: consider a shopkeeper gave a visually impaired user some bunch of notes. The visually impaired user now holds all the notes in his left hand and takes one by one note from his left to right hand in this time the camera scans the notes. When the user shows thumb symbol to the camera then it will give a audio feedback saying that you have 10 10 rupee notes on the top with 5 100 rupee notes in the bottom. Can you please share me how do you use these apps if yes? Can you please give me feedback about my product? Thanks, Bharath. [AI] HDFC's Talking ATM Implementation: my experience
Dear All, As most of us are aware that the Reserve Bank of India (the "RBI" ) in July 2014 made it mandatory for banks to have 25% of their ATMs enabled for talking prompts so that blind customers among others can use ATM services independently. 3. Some Observations >From the Bank sources, I understand that approximately 1 ATMs are configured for this service.
