Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN not setting LOTW upload flag
Diving a little deeper, I think I see where the problem lies. Mode in question is JT6M. Looking at the LOTW web site FAQ, there is a listing of modes supported by LOTW. Modes are grouped into CW, PHONE, IMAGE and DATA. JT6M is not listed as one of the currently allowed modes by LOTW and I had to create a mapping JT6M-DATA in TQSL so I could upload my contact. I also had created a JT44-DATA mapping in TQSL as that mode was not listed either. So...I guess LOTW needs to update their accepted modes? I will try and delete my mappings and try uploading those JT44 and JT6M QSO's. Maybe LOTW has changed the accepted modes without updating their FAQ. Anyone else with an FT920 having the same problem George K8GAR Dear Paul ; I'm operating with Ver. 8.01. --- In the QSO Window / Frequency section /. I get a 14.151.43 default. When I select a spot from a dx cluster it enters the correct frequency for about 10 seconds, then it defaults back to 14.151.43. How do I get rid of this default frequency ? I'm running an FT 920 radio and a new computer with WindowsVista. I am Not running in the contest mode. Tnx. George Robinson K8GAR NO--not the problem, I'm using the program defaults. Next guess, hi-hi ; For some reason, DX4WIN is not reading the frequency correctly from the radio. I do not have that radio, so you may be better off asking on the reflector who is using the radio and what their settings are. __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN not setting LOTW upload flag
You will need to log it as a mode valid in both LotW and DX4Win. Could you not log it as JT65? I had the same problem with Olivia until lotw updated their parameter file for TQSL. Which BTW, if I may rant a bit, is NOT obvious... and even though I have done it a couple of times I STILL can't find it again on the site. It's as if they go out of their way to be obtuse... no wonder they scare a lot of users off. Jay Hainline wrote: Diving a little deeper, I think I see where the problem lies. [Dx4win] Modes
It's is interesting watching the various posts , here and other places, about 'modes'. As far as DX4Win is concerned, I once got involved in this discussion thread, but used a workaround that 'satisfied' DX4Win, LOTW and me! It involved 'Olivia', now but not always supported by DX4Win, and a wonderful example of what I am about to say. The problem that has already arrived is that the good old amateur community has created a monster with 'modes', a monster that is going to take a fair bit of management in the future, and which is only going to be achieved with a fair bit of angst being felt by many, following a tough call from an important player, probably LOTW. The monster that has arrived is the mode, and specifically what mode, given that there are already very many, shall I say, oblique/boutique/nondescript/irrelevant/obscure modes already out there, and modern software and amateur thought will ensure many, many more in the near future, to a number that will be practically unmanageable as standalone modes. Might I say that, on this subject, we seriously risk disappearing up one's own major orifice. (I am sorry if this offends - I used it to indicate the seriousness that I forsee in the issue, already and in the future). BTW, I am not complaining, just commenting, because modes to me essentially mean Phone, CW, Digital (RTTY and PSK31) - and with a willingness in my heart to accept DATA as an all encompassing mode for all others. Folks, it's just my opinion. Can anyone place themselves in the shoes of the LOTW decision makers, now, and determine how we manage this 'monster' now, and into the future? Let me know. Cause every individual, every logging and contest program, LOTW, the whole shooting match, will have to comply. And be happy! I stand by with interest cause I think it will be a lot of fun! Re: [Dx4win] Modes
I think LOTW is trying to do what you say by grouping modes into 4 separate groups. The 4 groups are used to issue out the various awards ARRL offers. DATA encompasses anything digital. As far as I know, there is no individual award by the ARRL for working everything by a single mode. WAS by psk31, or rtty, or jt6m, or etc etc...
