Re: [Audyssey] new and first game from peter mach
7zip has the advantage of being in it's own item on the properties list, and the windows options are always there. alternatively, you can just muck about with programs and file types in the correct settings page of the files tab in the control panel. I personally for example have windows set to always show the zip, rar or 7z extention on a file nameto avoid mixing up the zipped folder and the unziped one. Beware the grue! Hi Shaun, So true. Although, I'm one of those people who don't really like the Winzip wizard interface anyway. Any time I in stall Winzip I disable the wizard and run it in classic mode. Re: [Audyssey] new and first game from peter mach
Hi Shadow Dragon, I beg to differ with you. There are several programs that will open rar files besides Winrar. There are free programs like Izarc and Unrar as well as your commercial programs like Winzip that will open rar files. You really need to be careful about blanket statements like, "only Winrar will open rar files," because it simply isn't true. Shadow Dragon wrote: Sadly only win rar can extract rar files, windows doesn't come with a built in rar extractor if that's what you meant, just zip. So you'll have to get win rar to extract and play it, unless anyone else knows of another utility that can extract rar files, which I'd be interested in as 7zip doesn't work for rar files either. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Hi Lelia, Someone has probably answered this before me, but if someone hasn't here is my answer. In order to extract rar files you will need an archive utility such as Winzip 12, Winrar, or you can get a free archive utility like Izarc. Any of the above programs will open and unpack rar files for you. lelia wrote: Hi I just downloaded the game but can't seem to open it? Odd, sinse I've been extracting Rar files with 7zip for years without a problem (did one just earlier tonight in fact). I must admit before I tried I didn't think 7zip would sinse it can't create rar archives, but clearly it can extract them. Beware the Grue! Re: [Audyssey] new and first game from peter mach
You can download WinRar from www.winrar.com. It's only a demo because it is shareware, but actually if you're just going to be opening compressed files that's all you really need. It's also extremely accessible. I've used it for many years to open video game music files. You have acquired the skill of Weaponry Theremin.
