general elections next month are going to be very important. A lot has happened
in the last few years that has affected the Muslim community, both in the UK and
internationally. Invasion of Afghanistan
and Iraq, continued brutal
occupation of Palestine and Kashmir, and of Chechnya too -
are due to some of the many failures in our foreing policies.
At home, the
continued discrimination and attacks on Muslims; high unemployment,
underachievement amongst Musims; the new draconian anti terror laws; the
erosion of civil liberties; lack of representation in the corridors of power
and there is a lot more that is adversely affecting us.
All these would
not have happened if we had used our votes strategically in the past. We CAN
make a difference. We have the voting power. ALL
the parties know this and that is why they are vying for our support.
We need to know
what you intend to know. Will you come out to vote or sit back and moan.

A spokesman for one of their families, however, said the accusation was false and said the government had probably misinterpreted a school essay written by one of the girls. The girls are both in the country illegally, one born in Guinea and the other from Bangladesh, and are being held in a family detention center in Leesport, in southeastern Pennsylvania, according to the document, provided by a federal agent. They were arrested on March 24, and one appeared at an immigration hearing on April 1 in York, Pa. The document, which describes the background of the case, said the F.B.I. believed the girls presented "an imminent threat to the security of the United States based upon evidence that they plan to be suicide bombers." It does not describe the nature of that evidence. But one federal official, not connected to the F.B.I., expressed skepticism that the teenagers represented a real risk of a suicide bombing. "There are doubts about these claims, and no evidence has been found that such a plot was in the works," said the government official in Washington, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the case involves a pending legal matter. A senior law enforcement official in New York voiced the same doubts. The case is the latest run-in between immigrants, both legal and illegal, and federal officials who have become much more aggressive in acting against potential terrorist threats in the post-9/11 world. While advocates for immigrants have said that many innocent people are being swept up in antiterror efforts, government officials have said their vigilance is necessary. Adem Carroll, a community activist with the Islamic Circle of North America who first approached this reporter about the case on behalf of one of the girls' parents, said the case appeared to be "an investigation that's gotten out of hand, like a lot of other so-called terror investigations." He added, "I'm confident that things will be cleared up." Manny Van Pelt, a spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a division of the Homeland Security Department, would not elaborate on the investigation. It was narrated that Umm Humayd the wife of Abu Humayd
al-Saaidi came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) and said, O Messenger of Allaah,
I like to pray with you. He said, I know that you
like to pray with me, but your prayer in your room is
better for you than your prayer in your courtyard and
your prayer in your courtyard is better for you than
your praying in your house, and your prayer in your
house is better for you than your prayer in the mosque
of your people, and your prayer in the mosque of your
people is better for you than your prayer in my
mosque. So she issued orders that a prayer-place be
prepared for her in the furthest and darkest part of
her house, and she used to pray there until she
met Allaah (i.e., died).
(Narrated by Ahmad, 26550). This hadeeth was classed
as saheeh by Ibn Khuzaymah in his Saheeh, 3/95; Ibn
Maajah, 5/595; al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb

NEW YORK - Two 16-year-old girls living in New York have been detained since
last
month on immigration violations amid concerns they were potential recruits for a
suicide bomb plot that never materialized, officials said Thursday.
The girls one from Bangladesh, one from Guinea were picked up by
authorities on
March 24 and put in a detention center, the officials said.
Details about the case, first reported Thursday by The New York Times, were
sketchy,
and a supporter of one of the girls claimed the accusations were false.
The Times cited a government document that said the FBI believed the girls
posed "an
imminent threat to the security of the United States based upon evidence that
they
plan to be suicide bombers."
Two law enforcement officials, both speaking to The Associated Press on
condition of
anonymity because the case is pending, confirmed the content of the document,
but
suggested that it may have exaggerated the threat.
Investigators were concerned that girls might be recruited sometime in the
future
for a suicide mission by a suspect in an ongoing terrorism investigation, one
of the
officials said. They decided to detain the pair before they could become
involved,
the official added.
The law enforcement officials declined to discuss the terrorism investigation.
Calls
to the FBI's New York office were not immediately returned.
Marc A. Raimondi, a spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a
division of the Department of Homeland Security, would confirm only that two
juveniles had been arrested on "administrative immigration violations" and
remain in
federal custody.
Adem Carroll, a community activist with the Islamic Circle of North America,
told
the Times one of the girls had been arrested after she stopped attending public
high
school in September. Federal immigration agents investigated her home and
discovered
an essay about suicide and Islam on her computer, Carroll said.
The case seemed to be "an investigation that's gotten out of hand, like a lot of
other so-called terror investigations," Carroll told the paper.
Carroll did not immediately return calls for comment on Thursday.

[IslamCity] The Sunnah: The Islamic Way of Life
" Most Islamic scholars today, when discussing the Ahadith, speak of reviving the Sunnahs and the extraneous deeds, but overlook the words speaking of the Islamic method for life. They take the Sunnah in its Fiqhi meaning, or by its technical meaning with the Muhadditheen, and do not link it to its original meaning that ties these two meanings together fundamentally, and around which the Islamic way of life revolves. " Fi Amaan ALLAHYour brother HAffeez The Sunnah: The Islamic Way of Life In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful All praise is due to Allah, and peace be on His Prophets and Messengers that He has chosen above the rest of the people. It is said in Lisaan Al-Arab: Sann Al-Shayi (the root word of Sunnah) (linguistically) means to sharpen something and to polish it. And the Sunnah of Allah means His laws, His commands and His prohibitions (this is the opinion of Al-Lihyaani). And the meaning of Sannah Allah Lil Naas means Allah has clarified it for the people. And the meaning of Sanna Allah Sunnatann means Allah has clarified the correct method for something. Allah (swt) states in the Quran It was a practice (Sunnah of Allah) approved by Allah amongst those of old who have passed away [TMQ Al-Ahzaab: 33]. So the words Sunnat Allah have been established on the verb implication, thus the verse means Allah has approved the practice of killing those who were hypocritical with the Prophets and fought them. And Sananntuha Sannann and Astanantuha, means I followed it and I have established a path for you to follow, so follow it. And in the Hadith: Whoever establishes a good Sunnah (Sanna Sunnatann), then he will have its reward and the reward of those who act upon it, and whoever establishes a bad Sunnah , is regarding an action that people can follow. And when a person starts an action and a people acted based on it, it is said about that person: He is the one who established it (Sannah). The word Sunnah was mentioned many times in the Ahadith, and the default meaning is the method and life-path. And if the word Sunnah was used in an Islamic legislative context, then the meaning of the word is whatever the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) has commanded, forbade, and recommended in word or action, from what was not mentioned in the Quran. Hence, the terms Quran and Sunnah (Ahadith) were used as the sources of legislation. And it was mentioned in Al-TaTHheeb: Al-Sunnah is the praised, guided path, and therefore it was said so-and-so is from the Ahl Al-Sunnah, meaning so-and-so is from those who follow the praised, guided path, which is taken from Al-Sanani (the path). And the saying Continue on your on Sanan means Continue on your intended goal and direction. And paths have different Sanan. So, The Sanan/Sunnah/Sinnah/Sunutuh of the path all mean its tactics, where it is said The Sanan and the Sunnah of the path has fooled you (end) Most Islamic scholars today, when discussing the Ahadith, speak of reviving the Sunnahs and the extraneous deeds, but overlook the words speaking of the Islamic method for life. The technical meaning of the Sunnah, according to the Muhadditheen, is: What is attributed to the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) of actions, words, silence, physical description, and manners, or was attributed to a Sahabi or a Tabiee where there is no possibility of difference of opinion of it. The technical meaning of the Sunnah, according to the Fuqahaa, is: The Mandoob, the Mustahabb, or the Nafila, all of which are defined as: The request of the legislator in a non-decisive (non-obligatory) manner, where the one who does it is rewarded, and the one who does not do it is not punished. And upon closer inspection, it is clear to see in the saying of the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam): The Shaytan has given up on his being worshipped on your land, but is content to be obeyed in lesser than that, which lower the value of your good deeds. So beware. I have left amongst you that, which if you held on to, you will never go astray: the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet, it is clear to see that the Quran and the Sunnah were revealed to legislate for mankind a specific way of life, for them to measure their actions according to Hukum Shariee, i.e. they refer all their words and actions to Allah and His Messenger. In other words, Islam is the legislator in all the actions of mankind. Allah (subhanahu wa taala) says: Oh you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority over you, and if you dispute in any matter, then refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you truly believe in Allah and the Last

ISTISHARAH IS BETTER THAN ISTIKHARAH Our reply to a muslim in the forum of web site: www.islam.com Istanbul, 2005-04-06 dear muslim nectar, assalamu alaikum salet al estikhara is explained in the ahaadees (words) of our prophet muhammad peace be upon him. I have a detail article on this subject written by me in the turkish language as my mother tongue, but you do not understand turkish. however, let me explain a little bit in english: before going to sleeping, pray a nafilah salah - two rakahs. This is also called as istikharah salah. In the first rakah, read kafiruun surah after fatihah. In the second rakah, read ihlaas surah after fatihah. when you finish the prayer (=salah), please read the prayer (=dua) of istihaarah. If you know the original version of the istikharah dua, it is better to read it in its original language -arabic-. you may also read the translation of the called dua in any language like french, english etc. which you also understand. The important thing is that you should know and understand what you say in the istikharah dua. if you do not know the istikharah dua either in its original language arabic- or in its translations into any foreign language; you may please say like the below words, after you finish the istikharah prayer (=salah, namaz) of two rakahs: "o allah subhanallahu wa taala! If this thing (please name the thing on which you do istikharah) is hayr (=good) for me, please help me to do it and show me the rightest way in my dream." "o allah subhanallahu wa taala! If this thing (please name the thing on which you do istikharah) is sharr (=bad) for me, please help me not to do it and show me the rightest way in my dream." You may get some remarks in your dream and; you may behave and decide according to the type of your dream. Actually, our prophet muhammad peace be upon him does not advise anyting on trying to get a mark and remark in the dream after the two rakahs of the prayer. He advises only to look at our heart and to decide according to the (negative or positive) idea which comes to our mind at first after the istikharah prayer (=namaz, salah and dua). He also advises us to decide what to do after praying the called istikharah salah and dua SEVEN times. By the way, the best way to do is the ISTISHARAH which means to ask to a person who really has good ideas or expert on the ISTIKHARAH subject that you wonder. Moreover, the istisharah is better than the istikharah; because the istisharah is adviced in the holy quran by Allah subhanahu wa taala, while istikharah is adviced by our prophet muhammad peace be upon him. So, the istisharah is always necessary and is the best way for all muslim brothers and sisters in the world. This means, we muslims have to first ask to those who know better than us on any subject, and then, if we like, we may also do istikharah ourselves after istisharah in order to be more satisfied. Please also note that istikharah is sunnah (=voluntary), not farz (=not obligatary). Since your mother tongue is arabic, i kindly advise you to read the holy quran and follow the ayahs there. This is the best way to follow in your life. I mean, istikharah souldnt surround all of our life instead of other best islamic worships. SHIITES AND SHIAISM Shiaism (The Rafidah) and Islam are indeed different religions. This sect has developed into what we now know as the Shia whose beliefs and thoughts are repugnant beyond belief. The divergence of Shiaism from Islaam can be summarized from the books which they consider most authentic, and the statements of their most respected scholars. Some of the proofs are available on this page Most of the Muslim UMMAH and Western scholars have very little genuine and reliable knowledge of SHIA beliefs and practices. However, most of the openly declared SHIA beliefs revolve around The Concept of Imamah, the superiority of Ali (May Allah be pleased with him), and the so-called love of the Prophet's family members. As a result, the intense love that Sunni Muslims carry for the Prophet's family members combined with the magnanimous personality of Ali has led some Sunnis to accept Shia's as part of the Muslim UMMAH. However, the brutal fact remains that under the pretense of Ali's Superiority and the so-called love of the Prophet's family members, Shias have literally evolved an entirely new religion, grossly distorted the teachings of the Holy Qur'ân, and completely rejected the sanctity and authenticity of the Hadeeth. They have elevated the sayings of their imams to the level of the Prophet's sayings and have classified them as Hadeeth. For all practical purposes, they reject the most authentic sayings of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) and Base their religion on the so-called Hadeeth attributed to their Imaams. By doing so they have rejected one of the most fundamental principles of Islam: The law can only be derived from the sayings and actions of the Prophet (Peace be upon him), not any other human being. The Saba'iyyah, a sect of the Rawafid, emerged in the time of `Ali and told `Ali he was God. `Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) burned some of them to death as a result. Later, the Rawafid split into many groups like: The Zaydis, Imamis, Kaysaniyyas, Qaddahiyyas and Exaggerators (Ghullat). Some people asked Imam Zayd ibn `Ali to disavow Abu Bakr and `Umar. He would not do so, and some people refused his decision, and deserted him, thereby becoming known as Rawafid, which means : the Refusers, the Rejecters. Those who stayed with him became known as the Zaydis, and so they are technically not of the Rawafid. The exaggerators are not Muslims, these Raafidi (Shia) actually descend from Abu Lu'luah Majoosi (a Persian fire worshipper) and Abdullaah ibn Saba' (a Jew). However they are more dangerous from the Christians themselves. Christians fight Islaam face to face (if they did) while Rafidiyah stab Islam from its back they have lot of Absurdities in their beliefs like Badah, Rajah, Mutah, Taqiyyah, etc The Zaydis, Imamis and exaggerators split up further, with each group accusing the other of kufr. The Zaydis split into three groups: Jarudis, Sulaymanis and Butris. They all agreed on the leadership of Imam Zayd ibn `Ali ibn al-Husayn when he revolted at the time of Hisham ibn `Abdul-Malik. They are the closest of the Shiah to Ahlus-Sunnah; they merely maintain that `Ali had more right to the Caliphate, but they do not claim that he was explicitly appointed as Caliph by the Prophet (may Allah bless him and his Household and grant them peace), and hence they accept the Caliphates of Abu Bakr, `Umar and `Uthman. The Kisanis split into two groups: one claimed that Muhammad ibn Hanafiyyah, a son of `Ali, is still alive and that he is the Mahdi; the other group say he died and passed on the leadership. The Imamis and exaggerators split into fifteen groups, among which are the Ja`faris/Ithna `Asharis (Twelvers) and the Isma`ilis. The exaggerators claimed divinity for their Imams, permitted all sorts of haram things, and in short dismissed the obligations of shari`ah. Below we have more then 100 Articles exposing Shia's using their own books and writings with detailed sources so that they don't deny it. These references are copied from the religious books of Shiite religion. While translating them we have asked forgiveness of Allah many times, for, these are very much annoying for any Muslim to read. Neither I personally wish anyone to have them but to save the innocent simple Muslims from the Shiites (Raafidah) it was necessary to write them and forward them to our fellow Muslims so that they can know the real terrifying beliefs of Shiites. Additionally I have also listed some articles about Ismailism and the Agakhanis; one of the more deviant groups within the Shia religion they are an offshoot of the Raafidah (Shiah) and share some of their characteristics. In response to a growing Muslim population in Central Kentucky, the University of Kentucky Hospital is offering a workshop to help employees better understand Islam so they can treat Muslim patients with respect for their religion.
Yesterday, Chih Ian Lee, a training specialist for UK's Human Resource Development office, led 14 attendees in a discussion of end-of-life, dietary, gender and other concerns as part of the seminar Health Care and the Muslim Patient.
"Islam is more than a religion," Lee said. "It really is a way of life."
He reminded participants that pork and alcohol are forbidden, so the hospital should strive to provide meals and medication that are free of those ingredients.
And he pointed out that Muslims pray five times daily while facing Mecca, the holy city in Saudi Arabia.
Lee distributed maps of the medical center campus that Muslim patients could be given to help them orient themselves for prayer in their hospital rooms, with an arrow showing which way to face.
He encouraged the staff to respect their patients' need for modesty by providing a caregiver of the same sex and by not exposing more of the body than necessary during examinations.
And he explained some of the religious beliefs that might influence the way followers of the Quran react to illness.
"Muslims greet news of illness with patience and with prayers," Lee said. "It's a reliance on God."
Abdul Quayyum, chairman of the Kentucky chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, applauded the hospital's efforts.
"We are very happy," he said, adding that his organization is preparing a similar training opportunity for Lexington police.
Across the nation, hospitals have begun making adjustments that reflect an increased sensitivity toward Muslim patients.
The Maine Medical Center in Portland redesigned its hospital gowns last year after realizing that Muslim women were canceling outpatient appointments in anticipation of being humiliated by the short, backless gowns that are standard issue in most hospitals.
It began offering all patients the option of a "sarong," a two-piece gown that comes down to the floor, covering the legs, back and arms.
And in southeastern Michigan, which has a large Arab population, Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center offers written materials that have been translated into Arabic, as well as halal meals prepared in a religiously acceptable way.
The UK workshop is being offered to hospital employees four times this spring. The university is considering ways to broaden it to a more general, campuswide audience.
Jennifer Bowden, a medical technologist in UK Hospital's clinical laboratory, said she learned a lot from yesterday's workshop.
"We're seeing more and more Muslim patients in the hospital," she said. "I thought it would be wise to know how to interact in such a way to respect them. I don't want to disrespect somebody out of ignorance."

With all due respect, although the language used is very powerful indeed, there is though mistakes in the convictions of the author.
In Islam, Allah subhanahu wa ta'aala, has provided us with the most comprehensive, just, beautiful religion in the world. Part of which are the hudud of Allah that He imposed on the sinners of the ummah. It is a means to steer the ummah to the most upright morals.
Contrary to what the author believes, the hudud were carried out at the time of the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam and after him, during the times of the rightly guided Khalifs and so on.
As a matter of fact the hudud were carried out on believers of the highest caliber. Al-Ghamidia for instance, who had committed adultery, repented and presented her case to the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam. When she was stonned and some of the companions were disgusted from her blood, the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam told them that she had repented so sincerely that if her repentence were to be divided among the people of the city if would have sufficed them.
So, if the best of mankind, those who accompanied the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam, as Allah says 'You were the best nation ever raised to mankind', if they could not avert Allah's hudud, then who are we to come and say that Hudud are no solution for us today. We need hudud much more that they do.
The fact that some abuse the use of hudud is not an excuse. On the contrary, we must strive to impose the hudud justly, to penalize those who abuse the system.
We must use all the means that Allah has taught us to ensure a fair trial.
For example, someone accused of adultery must not be persecuted until such a time that four witnesses come fourth with the appropriated testimony.etc
I ask Allah to guide us all to a straight path and make us from those who worship Him according to the shariah of Muhammad sallallahu alayhe wa salam

"Big Oil" appears to have won. The latest plan, obtained by Newsnight from the US State Department was, we learned, drafted with the help of American oil industry consultants. Insiders told Newsnight that planning began "within weeks" of Bush's first taking office in 2001, long before the September 11th attack on the US. An Iraqi-born oil industry consultant Falah Aljibury says he took part in the secret meetings in California, Washington and the Middle East. He described a State Department plan for a forced coup d'etat. Mr Aljibury himself told Newsnight that he interviewed potential successors to Saddam Hussein on behalf of the Bush administration. Secret sell-off plan The industry-favored plan was pushed aside by yet another secret plan, drafted just before the invasion in 2003, which called for the sell-off of all of Iraq's oil fields. The new plan, crafted by neo-conservatives intent on using Iraq's oil to destroy the Opec cartel through massive increases in production above Opec quotas. The sell-off was given the green light in a secret meeting in London headed by Ahmed Chalabi shortly after the US entered Baghdad, according to Robert Ebel. Mr. Ebel, a former Energy and CIA oil analyst, now a fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, flew to the London meeting, he told Newsnight, at the request of the State Department. Mr Aljibury, once Ronald Reagan's "back-channel" to Saddam, claims that plans to sell off Iraq's oil, pushed by the US-installed Governing Council in 2003, helped instigate the insurgency and attacks on US and British occupying forces. "Insurgents used this, saying, 'Look, you're losing your country, your losing your resources to a bunch of wealthy billionaires who want to take you over and make your life miserable," said Mr Aljibury from his home near San Francisco. "We saw an increase in the bombing of oil facilities, pipelines, built on the premise that privatization is coming." Privatization blocked by industry Philip Carroll, the former CEO of Shell Oil USA who took control of Iraq's oil production for the US Government a month after the invasion, stalled the sell-off scheme. Mr Carroll told us he made it clear to Paul Bremer, the US occupation chief who arrived in Iraq in May 2003, that: "There was to be no privatization of Iraqi oil resources or facilities while I was involved." The chosen successor to Mr Carroll, a Conoco Oil executive, ordered up a new plan for a state oil company preferred by the industry. Ari Cohen, of the neo-conservative Heritage Foundation, told Newsnight that an opportunity had been missed to privatize Iraq's oil fields. He advocated the plan as a means to help the US defeat Opec, and said America should have gone ahead with what he called a "no-brainer" decision. Mr Carroll hit back, telling Newsnight, "I would agree with that statement. To privatize would be a no-brainer. It would only be thought about by someone with no brain." New plans, obtained from the State Department by Newsnight and Harper's Magazine under the US Freedom of Information Act, called for creation of a state-owned oil company favored by the US oil industry. It was completed in January 2004, Harper's discovered, under the guidance of Amy Jaffe of the James Baker Institute in Texas. Former US Secretary of State Baker is now an attorney. In January, the Catholic monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella conquered the city of Granada, the last Muslim stronghold in Europe; later, Muslims were given the choice of conversion to Christianity or exile. In March, the Jews of Spain were also forced to choose between baptism and deportation. Finally, in August, Christopher Columbus, a Jewish convert to Catholicism and a protege of Ferdinand and Isabella, crossed the Atlantic and discovered the West Indies. One of his objectives had been to find a new route to India, where Christians could establish a military base for another crusade against Islam. As they sailed into the new world, western people carried a complex burden of prejudice that was central to their identity. Western Europe found it impossible to live side by side with people of other faiths. Islamic Spain had been the great exception. As was customary in the Muslim world, Jews, Christians and Muslims had coexisted there for centuries in relative harmony. But the Catholic monarchs brought their ingrained anti-semitism to the Iberian peninsula, and the chief targets of their Spanish Inquisition were Jews. Ever since the armies of the First Crusade conquered Jerusalem in 1099, Jews and Muslims had become the epitome of everything that western Christians believed they were not. Almost every time a pope called for a crusade to the Middle East, Jews were attacked at home. Christians seemed to find it psychologically impossible to accept the Jewish roots of their religion. At the same time, Islam was stigmatised as a religion of the sword, addicted to jihad, at a time when Christians were fighting their own brutal holy wars. Christians blamed Muslims for giving too much power to menials and women at a time when the social structure of Europe was deeply hierarchical. It would be wrong to imagine that we have left these hag-ridden prejudices behind. They may take new forms, but even in the post-Enlightenment era anti-semitism and Islamophobia are alive and well. We recently witnessed the extraordinary spectacle of a government that had proposed legislation outlawing religious hatred comparing Michael Howard to Fagin. We also saw Ken Livingstone comparing a Jewish reporter to a Nazi guard in a concentration camp. We have not absorbed the lessons of the past; already - at some level - we seem to have forgotten Auschwitz. Prince Harry found it acceptable to go to a fancy dress party as a Nazi; is this attitude common among the young? After the Fagin debacle, the government added insult to injury by branding Howard a pig and a mongrel, jibes that come straight out of Nazi propaganda, and Howard himself lost the moral high ground by attacking the Gypsies, who were also victims of Nazi persecution. This is a sinister development. Racial and religious stereotyping became a chronic disease in Europe at the time of the Crusades. We developed the habit of projecting our own fears and anxieties on to other people, who thus became a distorted mirror image of ourselves. This led to some of the most shameful incidents in western history. September 11 has, perhaps inevitably, stirred up the old Islamophobia. The action of an extremist minority has confirmed the old violent image of Islam. The government is right to be concerned about religious hatred; what is worrying is that it failed to connect this with its own behaviour. These episodes are a reminder that anti-semitism is still so ingrained in our culture that even vote-hungry politicians can fail to see it for what it is. We cannot continue to ignore this deep cultural flaw, which can surface in the most unexpected ways. So entrenched is our anti-semitism that even support for the Jewish people can be tainted by prejudice. Lord Balfour, who crafted the declaration in favour of a Jewish homeland in 1917, had anti-semitic feelings, which, his daughter recalled, greatly disturbed him. Christian fundamentalists in the United States, who strongly influence American policy in the Middle East, are also prey to anti-semitic fantasies. They are zealous supporters of Israel, because they believe that unless Jews are living in the Holy Land and fulfilling the ancient prophecies, the second coming of Christ will be delayed. But the Israelis are simply there in a "holding" capacity, because once the last days have begun, the Antichrist will massacre them all. We cannot ask other nations to dismantle their habits of hatred when we fail to be aware of our own cultural bias. Muslims are well aware of this anti-semitic strain in the Christian Zionism of the US. How can we expect them to abandon their resentment of Israel when our own

Towards the front of Masjid An-Nabawee he drew closer and sat down. Rasul Allah (SAW) had commanded that anyone who enters the Masjid should not sit until he first prays 2 raka's as a salutation of the Masjid. Imam Malik was of the opinion however that Rasul Allah's (SAW) forbiddance of praying after Asr took precedence and so he would teach his students to not pray the tahiyyatul Masjid if they entered between the Asr and Maghrib time. At that moment that Imam Malik sat down, a young boy had seen him sit without first praying the 2 rakas of Tahiyyatul Masjid. The young boy scorned him, Get up and pray 2 raka's! Imam Malik dutifully stood up once again and began praying the 2 raka's. The students sat stunned: What was going on? Had Imam Maliks opinion changed? After he had completed the salah, the students swarmed around and questioned his actions. Imam Malik said, My opinion has not changed, nor have I gone back on what I taught you earlier. I merely feared that had I not prayed the 2 rakas as the young boy commanded, Allah may include me in the Ayah [And when it is said to them, Bow (in prayer), they do not bow.]- al mursalat 77/48. Imam Ahmad (Rahmatullah alaihi) held the opinion that eating camel meat nullifies ones Wudu, an opinion that the majority of scholars differed from. Some students asked him, If you find an Imam eating camel meat in front of you and without first making Wudu - then leads the Salah, would you pray behind him? Imam Ahmad replied, Do you think I would not pray behind the likes of Imam Malik and Saeed ibn Al-Musayyab? Allah created humans with differences. It is the law of creation. Different tongues, different colors, different cultures all that on the outside. On the inside, humans were created with many degrees of knowledge, intellect, and comprehension of concepts. This is all a sign of Allahs all encompassing power to do whatever He wills: "And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colors: verily in that are signs for those who know." [30:22] Humans shall differ, that is not the issue. The issue is: How as a Muslim should one confront these differences of opinions and what should be our relationship with someone of a different opinion. Allah taala commanded us to call and advise people in this Deen of Al-Islam. Many Muslims set off on this mission blindfolded, not realizing that the map was there in the Quran also. In fact, in the very same verse where Allah commanded us to call and advise people in this Deen, Allah taught us how to do it. Read the following verse carefully: [Invite (fil Amr Allah is commanding) to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction and argue with them in a way that is best! ] Surah An-Nahl 16/125. There is no need to philosophize. No need to talk in the flower gardens. It is right there, plain and simple for anyone who would take heed. There in that Ayah are the three ingredients to apply when we disagree with someone. The same Allah that taught us to debate the truth, taught us how to do it: With Hikmah With good instruction, and To argue in a way that is best. What does it mean to have Hikmah when differing with someone? The grandsons of Rasul Allah (SAW) once set one of the most beautiful examples of Hikmah in advising others. Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn in their young age - once saw a senior man performing Wudu incorrectly. Together they arranged a plan to teach the man without insulting him, advising him in a manner befitting of his age. Together they went to the senior and announced, My brother and I have differed over who amongst us performs Wudu the best. Would you mind being the judge to determine which one of us indeed performs Wudu more correctly. The man watched intently as the two grandsons of Rasul Allah (SAW) performed Wudu in an explicit manner. After they had completed, he thanked them and said, By Allah, I did not know how to perform Wudu before this. You have both taught me how to do it correctly. We must understand that there are two dimensions to Hikmah. Firstly, there is the Hikmah of knowledge Hikmah Ilmiyyah. And secondly, there is the Hikmah of Action Hikmah Amaliyyah. Some people may have Hikmah of knowledge. But we see that when they try correcting others, advising them, they lack the Hikmah of Action. This causes many a common folk to reject the Hikmah of knowledge. To illustrate this Hikmah of knowledge without Hikmah of action, a brother once completed the Salah in a local Masjid and then proceeded to shake hands with the people on his right and left. The brother to his immediate right slapped his hand and snapped, That is not part of the Sunnah! The man replied most correctly,

A bus driver converts to Islam
Several years ago an Imam moved to London, United
Kingdom. He often took the bus from his home to the
downtown area. Some weeks after he arrived, he had
occasion to ride the same bus. When he sat down, he
discovered that the driver had accidentally given him
a twenty pence (a.k.a 'tuppence') too much change.
As he considered what to do, he thought to himself,
you better give the twenty pence back. It would be
wrong to keep it. Then he thought, "Oh, forget it,
it's only tuppence. Who would worry about this little
amount? Anyway the bus company already gets too much
fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a gift
from Allah (swt) and keep quiet."
When his stop came, the Imam paused momentarily at the
door, then he handed the twenty pence back to the
driver and said, "Here, you gave me too much change".
The driver with a smile, replied,"Aren't you the new
Iman in this area? I have been thinking lately about
going to worship at your Mosque.I just wanted to see
what you would do, if I gave you too much change."
When the Iman stepped off the bus, his knees became
weak and soft, he literally grabbed the nearest light
pole, and held on for support, and looked up to the
heavens and cried: "Oh Allah, I almost sold You and
Islam for twenty pence!"

Allah is the Most Forgiving
It was narrated that in the days that Musa (Alahi
salaam) wandered with Bani Israel in the desert an
intense drought befell them. Together, they raised
their hands towards the heavens praying for the
blessed rain to come. Then, to the astonishment of
Musa (Alahi salaam) and all those watching, the few
scattered clouds that were in the sky vanished, the
heat poured down, and the drought intensified.
It was revealed to Musa that there was a sinner
amongst the tribe of Bani Israel whom had disobeyed
Allah (Subhanahu wa taala) for more than forty years
of his life. Let him separate himself from the
congregation, Allah (Subhanahu wa taala) told Musa
(Alahi salaam). Only then shall I shower you all with
rain.
Musa (Alahi salaam) then called out to the throngs of
humanity, There is a person amongst us who has
disobeyed Allah for forty years. Let him separate
himself from the congregation and only then shall we
be rescued from the drought. That man, waited,
looking left and right, hoping that someone else would
step forward, but no one did. Sweat poured forth from
his brow and he knew that he was the one.
The man knew that if he stayed amongst the
congregation all would die of thirst and that if he
stepped forward he would be humiliated for all
eternity.
He raised his hands with a sincerity he had never
known before, with a humility he had never tasted, and
as tears poured down on both cheeks he said: O Allah,
have mercy on me! O Allah, hide my sins! O Allah,
forgive me!
As Musa (Alahi salaam) and the people of Bani Israel
awaited for the sinner to step forward, the clouds
hugged the sky and the rain poured. Musa (Alahi
salaam) asked Allah (Subhanahu wa taala), O Allah,
you blessed us with rain even though the sinner did
not come forward. And Allah (Subhanahu wa taala)
replied, O Musa, it is for the repentance of that
very person that I blessed all of Bani Israel with
water.
Musa (Alahi salaam), wanting to know who this blessed
man was, asked, Show him to me O Allah! Allah
(Subhanahu wa taala) replied, O Musa, I hid his sins
for forty years, do you think that after his
repentance I shall expose him?

Countering Islamophobia By: Dr. Salwa Rashad Graffiti on wall: "Exterminate The Muslims!" Urgency of Dawah in the West "A girl like you should take off this burqa and start getting an education," a middle-aged white woman told a 17-year-old Muslim girl at the dressing room of a respected health club. The Muslim girl was shocked by these hostile comments, but chose not to reply. Later, she reported the harassment incident to the club's manager. The manager apologized and assured her that this behavior is against their policy, and if it was repeated, he would take an action against the aggressor. Ironically, this Muslim girl is a national merit scholar who started her college education at one of the well-known universities at age sixteen. In the middle of a friendly conversation, a receptionist at a medical clinic told a young Muslim mother who came to see a doctor for her baby, "You don't know how to drive."In both cases, stereotypes and presumptions were absolutely wrong. Cashiers at department or grocery stores often assume that Muslim women who wear scarfs (in accordance with the Islamic dress code) do not speak English. One Muslim girl put it: "Do I need to wear a shirt with labels saying, I speak English, I know how to drive, I have an education," so that the general public don't think otherwise just because I am devoted to my religion and covering my hair? Anti-Muslim Hate: Why Da'wah Should Be Our Top Priority Since September 11, the damage of planned media campaigns against Islam and Muslims has been increasing exponentially with time. "Hateful, negative rhetoric regarding Muslims is on the increase both in tone and frequency. It has almost become socially acceptable to engage in bigoted and racist speech about Muslims. More frightening is the reality that the hateful thoughts and speech can turn into hateful, even violent action, which can ruin an innocent person's life", Karen J. Dabdoub-the director of the Cincinnati office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Ohio, USA-wrote in The Enquirer. Islamophobes are aggressively organizing propaganda that portrays Islam as a foreign religion that came with the backward, violent Arabs, who oppress women and deny them their rights of education, driving, working, or even leaving their homes. This completely distorted image is ingrained in the minds of the majority of the American public as a result of organized efforts by bigoted figures. Daniel Pipes, a critic of "Islamism," has proposed the creation of a new "Anti-Islamist Institute" (AII), designed to expose legal political activities of "Islamists," according to Jim Lobe of the Inter Press Service News Agency (IPS). The draft of a grant proposal by Pipes' Middle East Forum (MEF), obtained by IPS, reads, "In the long term... the legal activities of Islamists pose as much or even a greater set of challenges than the illegal ones.""Pipes is also working with Stephen Schwartz on a new 'Center for Islamic Pluralism' (CIP) whose aims are to 'promote moderate Islam in the U.S. and globally'" and to oppose the influence of extremists," Lobe writes. "The 'extremists,' according to the CIP proposal, are mainly represented by ... an array of organisations consisting of CAIR, the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT), the Muslim Students' Association of the U.S. and Canada (MSA), the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), as well as 'secular' groups, including the Arab-American Institute (AAI) and the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC)," he adds. Muslim civil rights organizations, such as CAIR, are working day and night to counteract the effects of such campaigns. But they are limited in number and resources compared to Islamophobes. The American people are victims of the biased and racist media propaganda. Ordinary American citizens do not have the time or motivation to filter the information fed to them through media outlets. On the other hand, those who have strong beliefs will be persecuted for false allegations; they will be labeled extremists, isolated, and discriminated against. We Must Unite for the Sake of Da'wah To preserve genuine Islam in the West, every sincere Muslim has an obligation to educate as many people as he/she can about Islamic beliefs and values. Islam is a complete way of life. We must adjust our lifestyle to our religion-not the other way round.
