I vote based on who has the lesser set of flaws, the greatest

But my point exactly about short memories. We the People were not too
happy with the previous adminstration if one accepts that they voted
Democrat because of unhappiness with the Republicans. Short memories.

I really do not think the current administration had much choice in how
they did what they chose to do. The lessons of the past - 1930's
depression - were essentially that one must not tighten things up or it
will get worse.

Hopefully, what has been done will not prove to be as bad or worse.

Unfortunately, we are not much different in Canada. In most of the
recent elections the choices have been pretty poor and I have mostly
voted against people rather than for people who ran for office.

anything other than more senseless spending and debt, but it appears
they WANTED it, and now are mad that it didn't help much if any.

One thing seems clear. Tuesday's election was, contrary to Obama's
contention, a referendum on his policies, and We The People don't like
it. Having recognized that, we can argue for months over why they
don't like it.

My point, for what it is worth, is that Obama essentially inherited a
problem that arose before he took office and he has done what he thought
best in an effort to fix the problem. Not an easy job during hard times.
Now, the mob has turned against him because he has not magically fixed it
over night.

I wondered about that 50%, so did someadding and calculating, pulling last
years taxes, etc. Now, you have to factor in that I live in a relatively
poor State, so YMMV - but our total tax load last year was under 20% -
property, sales, state ,and federal. The feds got 8% - so they're right
where you said they should be.
Not that I enjoy paying taxes, but they don't seem to be as bad as many
complain they are, at least here. Maybe you need to move South?
