Defeats the whole purpose of the > thing. :-) Well, if I were using the Outlook client, which maintains a local cached copy of my mailbox, that would be reasonable EXCEPT that if I use the Exchange server to store my emails, it also stores my appointments and contacts there. Since my client (in a business sense) owns the Exchange server, I don't want to store all my appointments and contacts, most of which have nothing to do with them, on their system. I would be concerned about my privacy, and also I don't really have any right to store my information on their system. Since there is no way (as far as I know) to store my contacts and appointments locally, but leave my emails on the server, I have to store all of them locally. I did hope that by using TB's Exchange mode, I could set things up to directly access the Exchange server from TB, and tell Outlook always to work offline so that my contacts and appointments would only be stored locally, but that doesn't work. The other problem is that TB can't do anything with meeting invitations that are sent via Exchange. They just stay in the Exchange inbox and never appear in TB. So I have to maintain Outlook connected to the Exchange server to see those. -- Robin Using The Bat! v3.80.03 Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Popfile v0.22.3 Current version is 3.80.06 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

No, they disappear from the Exchange server once they are retrieved by my Outlook client app. The setting I adjust says "Deliver new e-mail to the following location:" and I have it set to a local PST file. If I use Outlook Web Access, I can see mails on the Exchange server. When an email is sent to this work address, I can see it on the server through OWA. However, once my local Outlook connects to the server, it disappears from OWA, and appears in Outlook. Then once the TB Exchange account connects, the email disappears from Outlook and appears in TB. If so, > you're in the same boat I am and TB will not work. I'm not sure - presumably I could tell from the way the Outlook client is set up to access Exchange? Actually, I think my situation is more complex. I use Outlook as a calendaring and contact tool, just don't want to use it as an email client. Futhermore, I am a freelance consultant and Outlook/Exchange is the only supported email environment at one of my clients. Because I use Outlook for all my appointments and contacts, I don't want to leave these on the server at this single client. This means I have to set up Outlook to use a local PST file for everything, including email. So the only way I can get my work email from this organisation is to have Outlook open and downloading email, and have TB access the local copy of Outlook and pull mail out of the PST file. This works okay (except for the fact that I have to remember to send all emails immediately rather than putting them in the outbox) most of the time. It is certainly better than using the mail import wizard every time I want to get email out of Outlook and into TB. The main problem I have now is that while invitations to meetings arrive at my Outlook inbox, they don't get imported to TB. So I still need to remember to check my Outlook inbox regularly. To make matters worse, I have a second client that also uses Outlook/Exchange, but they also have a domain set up to manage their LAN (my first client doesn't). If I let them set up my laptop for their domain, it causes all sorts of problems for connecting to my LAN at home, or my first client, etc. So I am set up with minimal LAN privileges at this second client and that means I can only access the Exchange server via Outlook Web Access, which in turn means there is no way at all to download my email from that client to TB, or even to my laptop. -- Robin Using The Bat! v3.80.03 Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Popfile v0.22.3 Current version is 3.80.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

While I can't muddle through bugtracker too well I can search through TBBETA easily enough! Here's the link: https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=5786 Regards, -- ò.ó Nick Danger [MUA: TB! There is an issue with using MAPI currently where if you try to send a message while TB! is checking mail the message will not go and sit endlessly in your outbox. In conjunction, since a combined send and receive does just that it will never send your message. It's a bug that's been reported and if I knew how to look it up I'd post it here but quite frankly I don't. But you can at least take solace in knowing it's not just something you're experiencing, but that doesn't make it any easier to realize a message you thought was sent is still sitting in your outbox minutes, hours, or even days later. -- ò.ó Nick Danger [MUA: TB! Thanks I'll try it. I seem to have this working for receiving emails, however it does not send automatically (i.e. a combined send and receive). It now checks MS Exchange for incoming emails at a defined interval, but I have to manually send emails.
