Multi-Boot PC

2002-04-02 Thread Greg Strong

Can TB! be configured to run on a multi-boot PC so ONLY ONE message base
exists?

I have 3 partitions
(1) 1st partition for application set A OS Win98
(2) 2nd partition for application set B OS Win98
(3) Extended partition for data

This set up is to eliminate potential conflicts of applications.

What I've done for other applications is install them on the extended
partition because it always boots to D. When I ask this question I would
appreciate it when answering to keep in mind potential problems when I
upgrade this old PC to either Win2k or WinXP Pro.

TIA!

Hello TBUL,

Does the TB! provide mail merge capabilities? I did a find in help on mail
merge without luck. The mail merge capability would create individual
outgoing messages. The only difference would be who the message is
going and change variables within the body of message.

NO I AM NOT TRYING TO CREATE SPAM, so please do not be lead to this
conclusion when I ask the question.

When I created the filters for the mail lists I belong, I created both

I don't mean to defend VA or TB!, but maybe you don't want to put the
recipients into your address book for starters. Now I may have you
thinking this is is a spam junkie. Wrong again!

For example how about you are contacting people professionally over
the phone who provide you their e-mail address. They agree to receive an
e-mail from you with regard to your telephone conversation. During
the day you input all the contact information necessary into a
database. At the end of the day you run a query for all those
agreed to the e-mail and save it to a CSV file. You merge the CSV file
with a standard e-mail regarding your professional telephone conversation.

Whalla you have an individual e-mail for every individual you spoke to
that day. At this point in time I do NOT want them in my address book.
The purpose of the e-mail was to provide contact information and resources
available to them on the net with regard to following up your telephone
conversation. The recipient can now decide according to their schedule
when to look at the resources and contact you. If they are NOT interested
I do NOT want them in my address book. Just more work like maintenance on
the address book!

Bookmarks (or References) to Message?

2002-04-06 Thread Greg Strong

Hello TBUL,

Does TB! have bookmark capabilities? This is basically a way to
  reference individual message by subject.

I should explain. I am using TB! on 30 day trial. I was a VA user. In
VA you could search messages in a folder or bookmark individual messages.
The results would be held in a container referred to as a bookmark. You
could also bookmark individual messages to whatever bookmark was
selected at the time. In VA you keep up to 20 bookmarks at a time. If
you clicked the message in the bookmark you would jump to the message.
In short it was a good way to keep track of messages that were of
importance to you for one reason or another. Nice feature especially if
you are learning about a subject matter and want to be able to reference
  resources in the future.

Since VA is no longer developed I am using Agent for news groups. In
Agent there is a work around. The work around has no limitations as VA
had with bookmarks, but it wasn't as quick and easy either. In Agent
you do a global search. You review the results and copy the message ID,
then you create a new message with whatever description you want then
simply paste the message ID in your descriptive text and save the
message. In the future you simply review your descriptive text in your
saved message and jump to the message ID when you want to get to the
  source.

If TB! capable, it would be a great way to reference messages in this
mail list to learn TB! Thanks!

Sending Mail from Outbox?

2002-04-06 Thread Greg Strong

Hello TB!,

I am getting a message that there are no messages to send when 2 are in
the Outbox. I used the send command per help and also used the Send
check for all without luck. I used the Cntrl + S command to save the
  message. Per help:

If you have any queued mail in Outbox, you can use the Send queued
mail command (Shift+F2). Once again, if the messages are not sent
(i.e. the messages are not moved from the Outbox folder to Sent mail
or whichever folder is indicated by a relevant Sorting rule),
  examine the account's log (Shift+Ctrl+A).

I would think something is set up in error. Any ideals?

Yes. Account | Properties | Transport | Deferred (Cntl+Shift+P) must be
selected. No Hour Glass (i.e. draft mode) on the message. Use the
Cntl+Enter key to put in the Outbox. If you close the message it will be
save in draft mode and will NOT be sent. I think that should change the
default TB! set up to processing all outbound messages at the same time.
You must set up each individual e-mail that you want processed this way.

Makes sense. It depends upon how you want to use the e-mail
account.

For those who do NOT have a program that TB! imports the messages, all
they have to do is export their messages into a Unix-mailbox type. I used
VA which could could save the messages in VA's original format. Miguel was
kind enough to provide the search strings to fix the headers in a text

IMHO VA was NOT the best at everything. It was the fact that ONLY 1 user

ACM I guess the reverse would also apply in that migrating from VA to TB!

Interesting ride is more like it. What it did was force me to look at

reading how loyal users defend the program of their choice. The learning

they've used it for so long, and feel comfortable with it. If they would
open their mind to achieving the same goal a different way, then the
learning would probably be easier.

Filtering known

2002-04-08 Thread Greg Strong

Hello TBUL,

I thought I would try filtering known against my personal address
book. I had the rule active and checking against the personal address
book. What happened is most of the e-mail ended up in the Inbox-Known
  folder from various mailing list.

In retrospect when I look at the headers (i.e. kludges) one of the
Received: fields in facts has the send address of the mail list.
What is the best work around? See header below:

  Received: from tkh.att.ne.jp ([165.76.17.8])
by home.worldless.net with smtp (Exim 3.36 #2001)
id 16uTzH-6i-00
for [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Mon, 08 Apr 2002 14:54:52 +0700

I would think keeping a separate mail box for all mail list addresses
would solve this problem. Since others who implemented this
pre-defined filter probably had the same problem, I thought I would
  ask.

there were 2. I originally installed forgetting to import those

import of the registry.

Instructions for TB! multi-boot PC with multi-partitioned disk:
1) Export all pertinent registry entries pertaining to RIT from OS
where TB! first installed.
2) Reboot PC into 2nd OS.
3) Import registry files into registry created from #1 with merge from
right click of file.
4) Install TB! in 2nd OS in exact location as 1st installation.

I THINK the key is what ever OS is booted TB! is still in the same
path. If my memory is correct this was a potential issue for VA on
multi-boot PC where the OSs was not able to keep the same path. I don't
recall what the work around was. I presently use just Win98. This
maybe a problem when I install Win2k or WinXP Pro.

If someone is more clear on path issue where different OS used, please
let me know. I would sure like to know.

Mass Mail Question on Subject

2002-04-12 Thread Greg Strong

Hello TBUL,

I am on 30 day trial of TB! and wanted to see how the Mass Mail
(i.e. Mail Merge) functioned. I think I got about 80% figured out on
first pass. Where does the Mass Mail pull the subject from on
quick templates, or is there some other type of template I should
use for this. Quick templates do NOT have subject field.

The other problem I had was the last macro fields results were blank
when data existed in the address book. I named the macro fields by
copying them from help with a % in front of them, so either I
picked the wrong field that was blank or something else is going
  wrong here.

I originally created the message with macros in a draft message with
variables in the subject field. The body was identical to the quick
template, so I would guess there must be a way to run the mass mail
capability against this draft message. Possibly save the message as
some other type of template or something?

FYI Miguel, there are 32 fields in TB!'s address book. There is no
doubt a few more steps. VA only gave up to 10 merge fields. This was
NEVER a limiting factor to me, but for what it is worth you CAN have
more with TB!. So more possibilities there. You can have one
individual in more than one group. The one to many relationship of
individual to groups provides subset functionality here. The only
additional work is merging the CSV file to the blank (i.e. shell)
address book, and deleting the names after your done which is simply
select all and delete. These additional steps do not take long.
Probably seconds is more like it when you get use to it.

I hope I'm making sense here because it is late. I would like to
know how it works on the subject fields especially, since I have
  variables in it. TIA!

I thought using the %QINCLUDE= would do it, but I'm still missing
something because it is NOT pulling the date. I should be more specific.

Subject: Email to follow up our variable date telephone conversation

The variable date is a date that I placed in the home street address
field. My syntax looks something like this:

%SUBJECT='Email to follow up our %QINCLUDE=Date
%QINCLUDE=conversation'

FYI, The above is wrapping.

Then in the Date template I have:

%Addr

Then in the conversation template I have:

 telephone conversation!

Any thoughts or ideals. Could this be inherent to the actual date data
NOT being formatted correctly? TIA!

Outgoing Filter: Move File Save not Working?

2002-04-23 Thread Greg Strong

Hello ,

I can't get an outgoing mail filter to work and I don't know why. I'll
describe what I'm doing because maybe there is a better way, then get
to specifics. I have a contact DB which I dump names, email addresses,
other variables for the day into a CSV file. I import this info into
a separate address book for just this purpose. A Mass mail on all
imported addresses is performed to the Outbox on an account where
delivery is deferred. The outgoing filter is to perform 2 functions,
move email to specific folder on send, and append email into a text
file. I've created a hyperlink field in the DB, so that I can quickly
reference the email in subsequent discussions. This way the contact DB
is self containing of all types of communications made with any
company and individual.

General questions:

1) Can you filter on strings in the body with location = text?
2) Can you have a move and file save on 1 filter?

Detail outgoing mail filter rule tab:
Name: whatever
Source folder: Outbox
Move message to folder: whatever
Filter strings: strings=whatever ; Location=text ; Presence=yes
Rule is: Active

Detail outgoing mail filter actions tab:
Export message to a file: selected (with path:\dest\whatever.txt)
Export format: text
Append to existing file: selected
Export Kludges: selected

The results are no TXT file is saved and the messages end up in the
Sent Mail folder. In summary it isn't working. For the string value
I've tried to key in on only a partial of the subject since there is a
variable there that changes for each group of messages sent out,
otherwise I would have to create a filter for group sent. This did not
work, so I was trying to key in on a string in the body with the
location being text.

I'm new to the TB! so this is a bit of a stretch for me, but it would
a very helpful tool for tracing information in the database. Any
ideals? TIA!

Re[2]: simple question on PGP

2002-04-24 Thread Greg Strong

Hello Nick,

Wednesday, April 24, 2002, 11:14:02 AM, you wrote:

Okay, but this way I still can't save them in clear text in my sent
 folder automatically, right?

NA Well no because you did not send it in clear text... you sent it
NA encrypted, so quite rightfully it is kept encrypted in your Sent
NA Items Folder... exactly the way you sent it. Always encrypting to
NA your default Key will at least allow you to decrypt and read them
NA at will.

Can you do this with GPG and GPGShell?

As you know I'm new to GnuPG. If my memory servers me correct when you
encrypt you are encrypting to the public key of the recipient
individual, so they can use their secret key to decrypt. So this tells
me when you encrypt before sending you encrypt the messages using 2
public keys which are the recipient and yourself. So in order to view
the encrypted message in your Sent Mail folder, you would decrypt
using your secret key. Am I missing something, or is this correct.

Maybe I should ask this in PGP-Basics. As I understand it the free
version of PGP has restrictions of use that it can only be for private
use, and not commercial. I thought if someone may use security
software with TB! in commercial use in the future that they are aware
of this restriction. With PGP being shelved by NAI I don't know if
commercial licenses are available for PGP anymore. It appears when
reading this list and features of TB! that PGP is more seamless to the
user which may sway the user toward PGP and not GPG. This is why I
posted this question here in TBUDL.

Could you or someone else with knowledge shed some light here. TIA!

The strange behavior is the amount of time required on the 1st use of
GPG GPGShell is WAY to long. I just timed this message and it took
approximately 15.5 minutes before GPGShell's popup asked which key I
wanted to sign with (i.e. I have 2, email newsgroups). When I first
started using GPG and GPGShell this was only a few seconds. I watched
the network icon in the task bar of Win98 and did notice some blinks.
This could be regular protocols when connected with my ISP. If anyone

I was installing WinPT. In the PDF file for the install it refers to
OpenPGP that I believe is GPG (i.e. same as GnuPG at
http://www.gnupg.org/).

What functionality specifically does Ritlabs mean on their website at
http://www.ritlabs.com/the_bat/features.html by saying Internal (no
DLLs needed) fast PGP implementation based on the award-winning
OpenSSL lets you encrypt message and sign them with digital
signatures. Also available as a free stand-alone Digital Keys Library.
Handy manager for digital keys. Free plugins for PGP v5.5, v6.0.2
6.5.?

I know SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer which is different from
encryption, but if you follow the OpenSSL link it goes on to state
...as well as a full-strength general purpose cryptography library.
It seems to infer there maybe some functionality I'm missing here
which is why I ask the question.

To my knowledge I have to use the Tray windows application to
manually sign messages when using GPG. Reading this list I believe you
can have on the fly seamless signing with PGP which to my knowledge is
owned by NAI. Please clarify. TIA!

Message Database Management?

2002-05-09 Thread Greg Strong

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hello TBUL,

What are options available to manage the message database?

After looking at the help file I found that the options are as
follows:

1) Keep for nn days property of the folder,

2) exceed the folder's maximum message count.

I would think with making TB! available for use with news groups (i.e.
via plugin) more options would exist. What if you belong to a mail
list and use various threads as a resource and want to keep them
available in a searchable message database. An example would be this
very mail list, TBUL. I know I could keep all messages. Over time
the message DB would get rather large. So if no other options exist,
then you are forced to micro manage the message DB as you receive
them by reading every message received and deleting those you feel
unnecessary.

If this is the only approach available, you still will continue to
receive messages on a thread in the future that you have absolutely no
interest. MORE WORK! Now I know I could write a macro that throws the
additional threads into the trash, but isn't this some what more
involved then would be necessary. Am I missing something on creating
an easy macro to do this?

How about an Ignore switch?

It appears I could use the Park function to save a message after the
time specified in the folder options, but again this requires
reviewing all messages. MORE WORK! I did NOT notice a short cut on the
Message menu which then requires use of the mouse. I'd rather stay
with the keyboard. If one does exist, I do apologize for not looking
at the web page, however how about putting all shortcuts which
correspond to menu commands to the right on the menu. It is apparent
some of you are using wide band connections and are on-line all the
time. Well I'm not and still use a dial up so web pages are NOT an
extension of TB!'s coded help. Maybe I'm a minority here with TB!
users but if the actual statistics were looked at, I would think the
majority of the market still uses dial up.

I must be missing something here because there has to be an easier
way.

Manual Filter?

2002-05-18 Thread Greg Strong

Hello TBUL,

In short I want to manage the TBUL message base which is based upon
purging messages based upon a number of days and keeping those
messages deemed worth keeping.

This is what Ive attempted to do, but it is not working. I'm trying
to create a manual filter of read messages of looking at the messages
in a folder with a certain color group and moving them to another
folder. This folder I'm trying to move the messages to is actually a
sub-folder of the original. What I've done since starting to use TB!
is use color groups to indicate what type of helpful TB! hint the
message is from TBUL. One of the actions in addition to the move on
the filter is to Park the message. I then was planning on purging the
folder based upon time frame.

From what of read about Read filters is they have to be applied
automatically meaning at the time the message is marked read. If this
is the case my intended use of the filter will NOT work, since all
messages are already marked as read.

Thinking about how TB! works here with reading other applicable TBUL
messages I probably would be best doing a search on the color group,
then move all to the intended folder. I would have to park all the
messages by selecting them and a Ctrl + J. I would have to change how
messages are marked read from 2 seconds to manual, then change my
manual Read filter to active. If I understand everything correctly,
then when I mark the messages as read manually (Ctrl + M).

The only issue I have with my solution provided it is workable is that
now I have to manually mark all messages as read. This would be lots
of Ctrl + M's. A possible IGNORE capability is looking real good now.
I've included a copy of my filter below providing my thinking is
correct for the solution. Is my thinking correct here on a go forward
basis, or what is my best alternative to do what I want to do? Do
sub-folders inherit the characteristics of their parent and can they
be changed?

Putting that all aside though am I correct on the Read filter in

Re: Manual Filter?

2002-05-18 Thread Greg Strong

Hello Miguel,

Saturday, May 18, 2002, 6:55:30 PM, you wrote:

MAU I have just tested a couple of my Read messages filter manually
MAU and they worked just fine even though the messages were already
MAU marked as Read.

There seems to be either a difference of opinion, or differences in
how TB! works on different PC with possibly different versions. See
my reply to Roelof.

MAU What I did for the test is to assign Reply or Action colour group
MAU to a few of the messages I have (already marked as Read) in my
MAU Inbox-Known folder. Then, I manually filtered the Inbox-Known
MAU folder with my Read filters and those messages in Reply colour
MAU group were moved to my Reply folder, and those with Action colour
MAU to Action folder.

Well I'm trying to do something similar. See my original post on this
message which includes a copy of the read filter. What I'm doing is
creating a manual read filter (which works according to you) and
search on wild card ^.* and color group and trying to move to a
sub-folder and park at the same time. What I'm trying to do is an
extension of our discussion when I first started using TB!. I marked
messages in this ML based upon my perception of functionality to me.
I was thinking about purging message DB after period of time and
parking those which are deemed important. Basically I'm learning.

I agree with Roelof's suggestion in that I'm doing to much for what I
need to accomplish. So I think just parking the messages and
assigning a color group based upon functionality would be good. The
problem appears to be how read filers work for some and not others.
I'd rather keep the 2 seconds automatic mark to read because I don't
want to have to Ctrl + M every message to mark as read. To me this
seems like a lot of work. So either I missed something or there is
got to be another way.

This as well as your earlier message on how you set up TB! as well as
the ticker thread have got me to thinking about how to manage
message DB. TB! filters are a great tool, and I've read the thread on
RegEx which on initial read seems to take to another level (i.e. makes
even great tool even better). So if I can master TB! tools it can
become an even more valuable too.

BTW I'm on my 3rd beer after watching the Preakness. Great race and
triple crown winner still possible. Also I noticed you never replied
to my message from over a week ago on managing DB, so according to
your recent message on managing TB! you must not have felt it
important. ROFLOL I will admit some of the concepts were a little
out there, but I believe valid. Given the limited response and IMHO
maybe not the best place to post such a response.

Have a good weekend!

I thought my filter string (i.e. ^.*; line starting with any character

Unless I missed something here what I've learned on Read filters is
they will only work when indicated as an Active rule although you
can use the Read filter as a manual rule with the Re-filter on the
Folder menu.

IIRC your earlier message this week about using TB! and if I'm
understanding things correctly in TB! in order to use read filters
in conjunction with a trigger by me (i.e. color group or park or flag
or whatever), I will have to mark all messages as read manually with a
Ctrl + M. I like TB! marking messages read automatically. The
fuzziness is becoming more clear, but I'll have to think about
situations and trade-offs to determine best alternatives.

With what I'm trying to do with the TBUL, I think Roelof's suggestion
is the best. Search on color group and park all messages. I'll have
to go back and read you message from earlier in the week. Thanks!

MAU I don't think so. Not really, once you get it set up and working

I don't think I've used TB! long enough to really determine what is
best for me yet. I will say both you and Roelof have provided GOOD
answers.

I'd rather keep the 2 seconds automatic mark to read because I
don't want to have to Ctrl + M every message to mark as read. To me
this seems like a lot of work.

MAU As I have said before, I mark messages as Read when _I_ have
MAU finished reading them, not TB! ;-) While reading a message I may
MAU be interrupted by a phone call or by a higher priority messages
MAU in Mail Ticker, etc.

You have brought up an important point with regard to the phone
interruptions. Do you mark entire threads or messages blocks as read
at one time? Otherwise a lot of Ctrl + Ms. I have to go back and
look at that Ticker thread. Once you get by the initial UI of TB!
which I'm in process, you start to think about different functions and
how they inter-relate. From AB to filters to folders to purging.
This is where a good manual would be helpful.

This as well as your earlier message on how you set up TB! as well as
the ticker thread have got me to thinking about how to manage
 message DB.

MAU I tried 2 or 7 different setups until I decided on the one I
MAU explained a few days ago.

Yes I've read it. Very supportive of you. You have not changed from
the days of VA. g Interesting no one on this has replied to date.

TB! filters are a great tool, and I've read the thread on RegEx
which on initial read seems to take to another level

MAU Yes, TB! filters are great, except for the fact that it _always_
MAU requires a Target folder (even if it is the same as source). That
MAU is a drawback when trying to use filters manually.

Since I'm no expert and always learning, how is it a drawback?

MAU I haven't even looked at Regex seriously yet, too complicated for me
MAU ;-)

I've only read the message posted on TBUL. I doubt it is to
complicated for you. It really comes down to payback for the effort
for me. I have other things I think are more important to learn than
advanced functionality of TB! right now.

BTW I'm on my 3rd beer after watching the Preakness. Great race and
 triple crown winner still possible.

MAU I understand what 3 beers means, but I have no idea what you are
MAU talking about when you say after watching What's Preakness?

The Preakness is a horse race. The triple crown is the most
prestigious that includes winning the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness,
and the Belmount Stakes. If a horse wins all 3 races, then they win
the triple crown. IIRC has existed in US for over a century. Not to
many horses win all 3, but War Emblem has won the 1st 2.

MAU On the second one I did say I would comment more on your original
MAU message and, if you mean that, you are right, I didn't write any
MAU further comments.

This is what I meant. No problem, I'd rather you respond to message
about learning TB! rather than create a thread possibly perceived as
offensive to some.

TB! is a good program and I've lots to learn. Learning a new program
UI is not easy. Used with other tools TB! I'm sure will become an
instrumental tool for me.

IIRC you are either 7 or 8 hours ahead of me which makes it 2:00 AM or
3:00 AM. I believe there is a TB! macro which converts this time to
your time. Don't you sleep?

MAU Well, I can think of a few filters I'd like to have to do some actions
MAU except moving the message to another folder. For example the Ignore
MAU filter I'm experimenting with. It is an Incoming mail filter so source
MAU folder is _forced_ to Inbox and if I don't want to move the filtered
MAU messages the target folder has to be Inbox. But then, if I want to
MAU manually run the Ignore filter on another folder (i.e. TBUDL),
MAU filtered messages will be moved to Inbox unless I edit the filter
MAU before using it. It's a stupid limitation.

Looks like you would need an Ignore filter for each folder you read,
then you would need separate hot keys for each folder. g

MAU keep mine as simple as possible. KISS, you know.

KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID. Yes. Great principle.

MAU (much bigger than US, BTW :)

Yes, I'm aware of that fact. g

MAU You see, this is an example of what I mean by saying about forgetting
MAU to do a search and whatever. I have your message still marked for
MAU Reply (with a colour group) but I haven done a search in a while. If
MAU it had been moved to my Reply folder at least I would see it several
MAU times a day. As I use my Reply folder mainly for work e-mail I think I
MAU need a second one for lower priority replies.

This sounds like what I wanted to do originally with my read filter.
Use incoming filter to put messages in appropriate folder. Use color
group to determine action. Use color group as trigger on manual read
filter to place in another folder and park message. Apparently manual
read filters do not work, but must be marked active. When I run an
active filter on Folder | Re-filter runs much slower on this old PC.
So much so that I've shelved the ideal for the suggested search method
by Roelof.

MAU It is my main tool to accomplish my daily work, like VA was in
MAU the past.

It kind of forces you up that learning curve. g

NA Agent supports scoring now? That is news to me, as it sure didn't

The interesting thought on this discussion and similar ones in the
past is whether TB! will incorporate more news reader functionality
into future releases. I've heard this may be the case, but I guess we
will all have to wait and see.

Birthday Question on Boot?

2002-06-29 Thread Greg Strong

Hello TBUL,

I received a dialog box from TB! on starting the program about
birthdays. If you don't select AB | Personal Tab | Birthday, how does
TB! know there is a birthday?

ROFLMAO!!!

MAU I decided I will not upgrade any further until there is an stable
MAU version. Where, to me, stable means it has not changed in a couple
MAU of months.

From my LIMITED experience with TB! it will be a long wait before the
version has NOT changed. g What can I say TB! is a good email
program. After all you the one who talked me into TB!. g

I can understand how you feel though. IIRC it was quite a while before
I saw an official message on what all the upgrades were for with 1.60.
I don't know about you, but I at least like to know what I'm upgrading
for.

MAU I see that 1.60q/Post5 has just been released :-(

I just upgraded to v1.60q/Post3 the other day. Well after your
comment I looked at http://www.ritlabs.com/download/the_bat/beta/ and
saw tb160qp5.rar, but no qp4. H! Probably a fix without a release.

In TBBUDL per message mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] I
now see official messages from Ritlabs on what tb160qp5.rar release
is for. If you want a new HTML engine, then try tb160qp5newhtml.rar
per mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] I don't know about
you, but I am VERY HAPPY to see this on a regular basis.

I agree, however you did express it with :-(

MAU I just said I will not upgrade... for the moment.

Why fix something that is not broken for you. However I've had a few
problems with my connection hanging, so I thought I would update and
see what happens. I haven't posted the problem here because

1) I use ZAP 3.0.118. ZAP hasn't caused problems in the past for my
TB! on Win98, but know others here have had problems.

2) Most if not all hanging connections have occurred when ZAP fires up
a warning when some low life is trying to get on my system.

I should start identifying in the ZAP log when these problems occur,
then post question on TBUDL.

Component Loading ZAP 3.0.133 Alert /NAV 2002/TB!

2002-07-11 Thread Greg Strong

Hello TBUDL,

I receive a Component Loading alert for NAVAPW32.EXE with the ZAP
3.0.133 on connection for email messages. I have since restored OS
partition to old ZAP 3.0.118 and the alert does NOT occur.

Anyone else having the same problem?

Re: TB! Antivirus settings for NAV2002 - Total newbie

O I use NAV 2002 and sent myself the eicar.com 'virus' .
O Norton did not sound the alarm.

Do you have email scanning ON? I use NAV 2002 with email scanning on
and works fine. It has caught 3 or 4 viruses in the last week. On in
coming mail do you see the mail icon in the tray? If no, then either
you have email scanning off, or you have unselected Display tray icon
when processing Email.

To turn email scanning on go to Options | Select Internet Email and
under What to scan select Scan incoming Email /or Scan outgoing
Email. To make sure it is working under What to do when scanning
Email select Display tray icon when processing Email.

If that doesn't do it, I suggest you contact Symantec at
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/.
