Survey on blind / low vision user experience and a chance to win US$80 Amazon, Apple App Store or Google Play Store gift card
Hi everyone, My name is Phil So. I'm writing you because I was wondering if you would so kindly help me with a survey project? I'm a board member at an university blind technology center, and I'd like to invite you to take a 15-minute survey on your airline travel experience as a blind or visually impaired person. In exchange you will have the chance to win up to US$80 Amazon, Apple App Store or Google Play Store gift card. The survey link URL is http://bit.ly/airline2015 Would you also be so kind to share this survey with your friends on social media? The aim of this project is to create an Airline Disability-friendliness Ranking to empower us and help us make more informed consumer choices, and to inform how the air travel industry could make their websites, smartphone apps, and boarding process more accessible and blind-friendly. In particular, the person who refers the most number of people to take the survey will win $50 Apple or Google gift card. The truth is, this survey research would only be meaningful if there's a large participation. So I hope you would generously take 15 minutes to support this project and also spread the word to your friends on social media. Again, the survey link is http://bit.ly/airline2015. If you have any question please email me at philso1...@gmail.com Thank you very much. Warm regards, Phil -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. Re: Your thoughts on the digit ice for creating and identifying labels
Feliciano, I think you are writing about Digit-Eyes, By Digital Miracles, L.L.C. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/digit-eyes/id376424490?mt=8 I and my wife have been using it for years. The iPhone app works great and we get a result within two or three seconds. We have our shopper put clear tape right over the bar code on the cans and boxes at the time of purchase right in the store. The tape is thick enough to feel and makes it much easier to know where to scan. The app makes a quiet beeping sound when it sees part of the bar code which gives enough feedback to allow us to adjust the camera to pick up the entire bar code. As the data base of bar codes is on the internet, it is constantly being updated automatically. Everyone, What do you consider when choosing a phone?
Hi everyone, Hope you are doing well. I was wondering, what are some of the things you consider when buying a phone, either smartphone or basic phone? For example, some people must choose a phone that has physical keys, some people choose phone based on what blind-specific apps are on that platform, some people don't want touchscreen, and of course price. I'm doing a research and would love to know what are maybe top 5 to 7 things you consider. Just whatever things come to your mind right away. And please also kindly share with us what phone you're using now. It should be interesting to see how we choose our phone differently. Thanks a lot! Re: Accessible App for Scanning Food Items for Nutritional Info?
One trick we use all the time is to have either a sited person or the check out cashier to place a piece of clear masking tape over the location of the bar code. This works even on frozen dinners. Then when scanning with Digit-Eyes I can locate the bar code, scan it, and get results in about two seconds. Phil - Original Message - From: Richard Turner To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Monday, February 16, 2015 1:34 PM Subject: RE: Accessible App for Scanning Food Items for Nutritional Info? Sometimes the nutritional information is included when using Digit-Eyes. The issue with not knowing where to find the bar code is a universal issue, not limited to any one app. The rule of thumb is that on canned goods, the bar code is usually to the left of the label seam on the lower half of the can. On bags, also to the left of the seam toward the bottom. Boxes, often on the bottom, or on the side near the bottom. Beyond that, it is a guessing game if you have no vision like many of us. Even though there is no app, if you know the brand and size of the container, you can also get this information from www.directionsforme.com It also gives you the package directions for many products, not just food. Lending ones’ eyes via smartphone
Lending ones’ eyes via smartphone NPR Marketplace February 9, 2015 An app that helps the blind by connecting them to sighted volunteers who can see through their video camera has been gaining a lot of attention since its recent launch. Be My Eyes, as the app is known, was developed by Hans Jørgen Wiberg, a 50-year-old Dane, and funded by three different Danish groups. Wiberg himself is visually impaired. “Its great to see people being really innovative in this space,” says Eliza Cooper, a social media consultant who has been blind since childhood. She recently tested the app to find out the expiration date on her milk carton. “I didn’t know where the expiration date usually is,” says Cooper. So her volunteer looked at her own milk carton and then told Cooper where to aim the camera. What made her apprehensive, Cooper says, was not the technology itself, but the person who would be on the other end. “Maybe someone who is lonely and just wants a connection, and they choose to use this app,” she says. “That made me nervous.” But she soon realized that wasn’t the case. The woman Cooper spoke to didn’t ask to exchange names. “I felt good about not having any pressure to identify anything more than I wanted to,” says Cooper. Re: digitize?
They have a web site too: http://www.digit-eyes.com/ When at the super market, have your shopper put a piece of clear tape over the bar code on packages. This even works on frozen dinners. We can then feel the slight raised tape on the package and it only takes two or three seconds to scan it with Digit-Eyes and get a report of what it is. The app converts the bar code to a number then looks it up on its own data base. If it doesn't find it the app looks it up on Google, or another search engine and if that doesn't work it looks it up on your device to find if you recorded the description. Zombies, Run
Hi Tess, I am not sure you have the correct game, Zombies, Run by Adrian Hon of Six to Start's is somewhat accessible. Zombies, Run is written by award-winning novelist Naomi Alderman. https://www.zombiesrungame.com/ You tie your shoes, put on your headphones, take your first steps outside. You've barely covered 100 yards when you hear them. They must be close. You can hear every guttural breath, every rattling groan - they're everywhere. Zombies. There's only one thing you can do: Run! You're Runner 5. Hundreds of lives are counting on you. You've got to help your base rebuild from the ruins of civilization by collecting critical supplies while avoiding roving zombie hordes. Can you save them and learn the truth about the zombie apocalypse? Automatically collect crucial items for your base as you run, plus artefacts, notes, voice recordings, and more Use the items you've collected to develop your base and help your surviving population thrive. With a bigger base comes more missions and some unexpected surprises. Running Game Audio Adventure Zombies, Run! is an ultra-immersive running game for the iPhone, iPod Touch, Android and Windows Phone. We deliver the story straight to your headphones through orders and voice recordings - and back home, you can build and grow your base with the items you've collected. Run Anywhere Zombies, Run! works anywhere and at any speed. You can jog in a park, run along a beach, or walk along a trail, even on treadmills! Keep the survivors alive You automatically collect items like medicine, batteries, first aid kits, baseball bats, underwear and ammo while running - but when you're back home, who needs them more: the soldiers or the doctors? Which buildings need extra defenses? It's up to you - and the bigger your base, the more missions you can play. Where did the zombies come from? What are the leaders of your base planning? There's a deeper mystery to be uncovered, puzzles to be solved, websites to be discovered, documents to be viewed so you can learn the truth of what's happened to the world. Choose your own custom playlists before you start running: the story unfolds in between your tracks through a series of dynamic radio messages and voice recordings. With 30 missions and over 40 runs worth of gameplay, you become the hero in an epic story of humanity's struggle for survival where your running really matters - and there's a deeper mystery to be uncovered as well. Better Fitness Through Science Coming Soon: Zombies, Run! records the distance, time, pace, and calories burned of all your runs, and we're planning RunKeeper integration. You can also hear audio notifications for time, distance, and pace during your run. Using voice over, a blind person has played the first few levels of Zombies Run! He can't figure out how to assign the supplies he has recovered or how to build the hospital. it is currently not possible to assign supplies or put up buildings, I know that at least two people have contacted the developers, and they said that a solution was being worked on, but it could be a few months before it was released. Christina wrote You can now assign your own supplies by creating a zombielink account online at www.zombiesrungame.com You then log into your account via the settings menu in the Zombies Run app on your phone. This way, you can assign supplies on your computer and will update your app. The website is accessible; I had no problem assigning supplies. alex wrote Another way is to extract the audio files from the app, and listen to them on the computer as they are ordinary mp3s. yes I know its cheating, but why should I have to wait for the developers to take there time getting the app accessible. I mostly got the app for the story anyway, not for the fitness element. Amy wrote, But really, running away from zombies with this app is probably the most exciting workout ever. It's incredibly immersive, and the stoyline feels like a novel. Last workout, my helicopter crash landed outside of the base because a mysterious force shot it down with an RPG, and I was out in the middle of the desert with all these flesh eating zombies, and then this radio tower guy (with a REALLY attractive voice) contacted me and made me run through a hospital, where his old flame turned out to be, ha, ha, no. I refuse to spoil the storyline. It's too amazing. Also, everyone has British accents! I secretly bought the game for that reason alone. The zombies were a bonus. Requires iOS 5 or above. Works on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPod Touch 3rd gen and 4th gen. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Accelerometer mode can dramatically decrease battery life. $7.99 US £5.49) Rated 12+ for the following: Frequent/Intense Horror/Fear Themes Infrequent/Mild Profanity or Crude Humor Infrequent/Mild Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drug Use or References Infrequent/Mild Sexual

Grail to the Thief: An Interactive Audio Adventure by For All To Play from Worcester, MA Grail to the Thief is an interactive audio adventure for the blind and visually impaired. for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux that can be played using only sound, without the need for visuals. The game has been designed with the needs of the blind and visually impaired in mind but is also designed to be played by the non-impaired. Our goal is to deliver an exciting, immersive experience in which the player will always be fully aware of what is happening through the use of voice-overs, sound effects, ambient sound and music. In Grail to the Thief, players make their choices through a conversation tree, eliminating the confusion and frustration that comes with traditional text adventure games, which require players to type in commands to progress. The game is a nostalgic throwback to childhood favorites such as Zork, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Day of the Tentacle, and Grim Fandango, and draws inspiration from old BBC radio dramas and the movie Time Bandits. The game stars Hank Krang, a dirty thief from the near future, who recently had a self-aware time machine called the Time Excursion Digital Interface, or TEDI, fall into his lap after a poker game. He has decided to use this technology to go throughout time, stealing priceless artifacts. On his first adventure, Grail to the Thief, Hank travels to Arthurian times in search of the Holy Grail. The idea for the game came about when we were conducting research into game design for the visually impaired. During this time, we conducted interviews at Perkins School for the Blind and performed extensive research which led us to discover that few games are available to the blind and visually impaired, and many of the games that are available are severely dated, lack the quality and polish of games for the sighted, and rely on synthesized computer voices such as screen readers in order to play. Grail to the Thief is designed to address these problems, and the game will be just as accessible and exciting an experience for the blind and visually impaired as it will be for the non-impaired. Your funding will help us deliver an interactive audio adventure with an engaging story, interesting characters, professional voiceovers and sound effects, and accessible controls. The game will be available as a DRM-free download for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux in August 2014. Play the Prototype! We developed a browser based prototype of Grail to the Thief. The prototype requires Google Chrome or Opera and is accessible at foralltoplay.com/prototype. The interface and some of the audio in the prototype are placeholder assets and will be replaced in the complete game, which will be a standalone executable and will not require a web browser to play. advice needed on Freedom i-Connex folding bluetooth keyboard
Hi group, I'm thinking buying on Amazon the Freedom i-Connex folding bluetooth keyboard to use with my iPhone 3GS. Since I have never physically handled this keyboard, can someone who has used it share with me their experience with it? This is the link to Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Freedom-i-Connex-Bluetooth-Portable-Playstation/dp/B003LO2FR8 Are the letter keys easily distinguishable? or are the keys really flat and hard to feel? Is it missing any important key? I'm a PC user and not very familiar with Mac - Are there supposed to be Home and End keys on Mac keyboard? What are the pro's and con's of this keyboard in your opinion, and what other keyboard that can fit into pants pocket and still type with all 10 fingers would you recommend? Is this Freedom i-Connex folding keyboard compatible with later version sof iPhone, like iPhone 5? Thanks a lot for your help! Re: DoItWrite 1.0 for iPhone from Draconis Entertainment
Hi Josh, You stated that punctuation might be in a future version of DoItWrite. I can predict that there would be problems with learning punctuation marks. How does the phone distinguish between an accent, grave accent and a comma, or a dash, hyphen and an underscore? Then some of them are very complex such as the and sign and at sign. Is the quote sign, two marks like commas or just one? And can you do left and right quotes? And what does a carrot look like? A jay with a peaked hat? I'm guessing most people only need to know how to make the period for most short messages. Phil -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Freeq by Psychic Bunny
Freeq FREEQ is an audio adventure game for iPhone and android mobile devices $4.99 USD by Psychic Bunny An audio adventure game that gives you the amazing ability to tune in to phone calls and radio signals from the past or future. You can essentially travel through time and change the world. After a major disaster, there's only one society left on Earth. You can use your powerful tool to tune in to their dramatic conversations about affairs, arguments, experiments, and more. This is nothing like the games you're used to playing on your iPhone. There are plenty of instructions to read through before you get started. I do actually recommend reading them all so you don't find things confusing once you start searching for signals to hijack. Hijacking a phone line is done in two stages. The first involves tilting your phone until you find a signal and the second involves a switchboard where you have to decide who to connect with. If you don't make your decision quickly enough, you'll lose your signal and end up back at the first stage. The story you end up being a part of depends on who you connect with and when you make make the connections. It's worth listening to the conversations carefully so you can decide on what connections to make next. Every conversation you create will give you more clues about what actually caused the world to end. The actual process of finding signals and hijacking conversations is quite repetitive. This app is entertaining because of the stories. The fact that some people know that you're listening to their conversations makes it even more interesting. After listening to a few phone calls, you'll really want to know how the story ends and what happens to the characters involved. If you're the type who enjoys interactive stories and radio shows, you'll love FREEQ. It's also worth checking out if you're getting bored with normal iPhone games and want to try something completely different. Version 1.2 Accessibility Update! FREEQ is now usable for blind and low-vision players. Audio instructions are in-game for further information. It has an accessibility mode that uses voiceover like jestures, that being flick and double tap. To activate it, you put your thumb and finger together then slide them both away from each other, like the opposite of a pinch in smack me. Re: Freeq by Psychic Bunny
Hi Folks, Aaron and Brad on the Audio Games forum have written about how to get the game to work. You need to turn voiceover off. With IOS 7, Siri can do that for you. Then when the game starts. pintch your fingers together away from the screen, put them on the screen and slide them apart. Now the game will act like voiceover is on. - Original Message - From: Regina Alvarado reggie.alvar...@gmail.com To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Sunday, September 22, 2013 7:00 PM Subject: Re: Freeq by Psychic Bunny What is the zoom gesture? Fwd: Looking for participants in Chicago area for accessibility research (with incentives)
Hi group, This accessibility and usability research project is starting in June running through August and they are looking for blind and low vision participants from Chicago area. Sounds like a great opportunity to have our say to improve accessibility of instant messenger clients on iOS/Mac device as well as Android and Windows device. And participants will be compensated. Please see below. Phil Starting in mid-June and throughout the summer, the GfK usability research team will conduct a number of usability tests with individuals who are blind or have low vision and who use instant messenger (IM) software to communicate with others. By volunteering to participate in this research, you will have the opportunity to influence changes in the way digital communication tools support accessibility and universal design to allow people with disabilities to communicate and stay connected with friends, family, and colleagues. Major software manufacturers are making heavy investments to address accessibility in communication tools across PCs, Macs, smartphones, tablets, and mobile devices, and this is your opportunity to have a voice in those changes. We will be asking willing participants to come to a research facility in the Chicago metro area for a one-on-one interview lasting approximately two hours. Participants will be compensated $150 for their time. Interested respondents are invited to provide some preliminary information to the research team by filling out an online survey. Those who qualify will be contacted directly with more details and to schedule interviews. Please click the link below to be directed to the online survey, hosted by Survey Monkey. The survey should take about 10 minutes. All responses to the survey will be kept confidential by GfK, and only the immediate UX research team will have access to them. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/usabilityforblindandlv Thank you for your interest in helping to make communication tools accessible and useable for all. Re: where do I type my statis?
The answer seems to be that you can do it by default, the keyboard is at the bottom to type on, and in the place that first says what's on your mind, that is an open text area, even if it doesn't say so. just type, and it'll get rid of the bit about on your mind and put your text. I just did it, the first time I did a status from my newish 4S. updated Word Guess Collection.
Hi Folks, They updated Word Guess Collection, a game for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad April 05, 2013 Version: 1.3 by Yohann C. Taieb: Word Guess Collection game brings back the classic hangman game concept with a twist! Challenge yourself by guessing words within different categories such as pets, musical instruments, candies, colors, superheroes, fruits, professions, Christmas, Halloween, sports, and much more! The game keeps track of your progress for each categories, and gives you the opportunity to earn a reward badge for each category completed. Just double tap on the letters that you think go into the answer. After you tap on the three letters to answer a clue, it will automatically fill it in and then the clue will say solved in front it it. So if you think an answer might be hat, double tap on the H, then an A, and then a t. You will either hear a noise letting you know it was correct or incorrect. Another good tip is make sure you have characters checked in your rotor so you can move letter for letter when looking at the word you are trying to guess, otherwise, VoiceOver won't read the blank spaces in the word. The update fixed some voiceover problems. It is free. https://itunes.apple.com/app/id600633777 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: Robo-E, puzzle game with VoiceOver support got an update
Hi Denny, I play Robo-E by moving my index finger around on the screen. Just think of it as a braill page and each cell of braille is a word, wall, ball ring etc. You do have to swipe the screen to move Robo-E and to push the ball into the rings. Phil - Original Message - From: Denny Schwab denny.sch...@gmail.com To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Wednesday, April 03, 2013 8:57 AM Subject: Re: Robo-E, puzzle game with VoiceOver support got an update move Robo-E to push the ball. Hello, I just downloaded this game yesterday and am finding it quite interesting. My main question is how do the majority of people on this list navigate the puzzle? It seems pretty hard to figure out the layout using VoiceOver. The only ways I can see to review the layout is to swipe left and right, or to touch the screen in different places. There doesn't seem to be any way to flick up and down to review verticly. This makes it very hard to get a good idea of exactly how the layout is. It is way too easy, I am finding, to touch the wrong square as you try to see what is directly above, or below, another square. Anyone else have a better way to review the layout? If the developer is on the list, can they let us know why a flick up and down option can't be put in, so that it is easier to get the overall layout down? Re: Robo-E, puzzle game with VoiceOver support got an update
Hi Christopher, Thanks for the suggestion turning Vertical Navigation on When the rotor is set to this option, the user experiences control of VoiceOver which is similar to using arrow keys on a desktop computer. Flicking up/down moves the user up/down, while flicking left/right continues to move the user horizontally. This feature will be especially helpful to those who frequently navigate with VoiceOver via a connected BluTooth keyboard, as well as in grid-based games or table layouts. The feature, interestingly, ignores artificial boundaries, meaning that if you navigate upward from the top row of a Home screen, you will find that VoiceOver focus has moved to the status bar. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Robo-E, puzzle game with VoiceOver support got an update March 16, 2013
Hi Folks, Here is more info about Robo-E by MPaja software. I hope it will answer some questions about the game. Robo-E is in charge of cleaning up the galaxy from toxic waste. But he needs your help as his positronic brain is confused after a nearby supernova went off. You must guide Robo-E in pushing all the red waste balls on top of the yellow energy rings to activate their transfer to hyperspace. Robo-E brings you the classic game of Sokoban with beautiful graphics and and intuitive UI. Includes hundreds of built in levels. Sokoban originally was a Japanese puzzle that involved moving boxes around a room. Without planning several moves in advance you could easily box yourself in. Robo-E is a spin on this classic puzzle with a Sci-Fi theme. You play on a grid with walls, Robo-E, your character, balls and energy rings. You can have more than one ball at a time. you push the balls in the empty spaces and finally into the energy rings. Robo-E is playable with Voice Over, so for the ultimate challenge activate Voice Over from the device settings and play blindfolded, trusting only your touch and ears. There is a review screen feature. By running your finger over the screen the type of cell is announced and what is in it. For the first three levels a hint is given as to what you can do. As you go up in levels sometimes the grid gets larger and there are more balls. At level 1 the grid is 5 by 5 with 1 ball. At level 12 the grid is 9 by 10 with 4 balls. At level 13 the grid is 6 by 6 with 5 balls. The three finger swipe to move only works if the user has VoiceOver on. On the very first level you are above the ball in the starting position. The energy ring is below the ball. If you run your finger from top to bottom, you would hear, wall, empty, Robo-E, ball, energy ring, empty, wall. So you just need to swipe down to push the ball into the ring. Once a ball is in an energy ring, you can't move over it. Often you in fact need to push a ball away from an energy ring temporarily in order to get access to another ball. Or sometimes a ball sits on an energy ring already at the beginning of a level, but must be moved away, temporarily, to end up on another energy ring. Only in the end all the energy rings need to be occupied to complete the level. Both you and the ball are blocked by the walls, so once a ball is against a wall it can not be moved off it, but can be moved along it. If a ball and energy ring are on the same wall, only that ball can go in that energy ring, even if there is another ball closer to the ring. If you move a ball to the corner, there is no way to get it out from there, except by undoing the move. Even though the rules are simple, the locations of the walls, balls and rings make the game almost as complicated as chess. This type of puzzle is very challenging, and your success like in a chess game, will depend on how many moves ahead you can store in your mind. version 1.4 added new sounds and support for Game Center. And Translations to Finnish, French, Italian, Portuguese. There is now a different sound for moving one square, going over multiple squares, pushing the ball, pushing the ball over ring, trying to push a ball that cannot move, and bumping into walls. Game Center support is also there for high-score tracking. There is no free version and the price is $1.99 US. Re: Accessible App. Free. WordCord Free
Hi Peach, This comment might help from a sighted player: I have been looking for a good word ladder game and this one is good. However, with one easy fix, it could be great. The word you're trying to make is at the top of the page, ABOVE the word you are currently working from. PLEASE switch the positions so that the game is viewed in true word ladder progression. Re: anagrams
Peter Damen's Worder. Worder is a challenging anagram word game which tests your ability to find words within a set of nine letters. Worder requires no internet connection and is great for plane flights, commuting on subways and remote travel destinations. The object of the game is to make as many words as possible, and find the one word using all nine letters too. Worder has no timers, explosions or music, just sit down for a relaxing game of Worder, playing at your own pace. Worder includes many game options, including a Shared Letter mode where all words should include the highlighted letter, or standard mode that allows you to use all letters. The minimum word length for a game can also be selected, which can limit the number of words that need to be found. Worder also includes 6 difficulty levels, so that Worder can cater for those who are intimidated by games with large word sets, to those people who are word game experts. Level 6 includes all words, where lower levels include a subset of the entire word list, based on how commonly words are used in everyday language and text. You can challenge your friends by sending your current game for them to play. See if they can beat your score. Also, you can't flick to all the controls, but you can touch them. On this screen, you decide whether to allow 3-letter words, whether adding S is necessary, whether to use American or British spelling, and a few more things. When you're playing a game, there is a group of 8 letters, each of which is a button. Double-tap a letter button, and the letter appears in a text box below the letters. When you have all the letters entered, flick to the Plus button to the right of the text field, and double-tap it. There's no sound, but your total number of words goes up and the word is added to the list. Both of these pieces of info are available after the text box. There's also a Cross button that deletes what's in the text box. If there's nothing in the text box, it seems to cross out the last word you entered and not let you enter that word again. I'm not sure why. There's also a Flag button. This lets you forfeit the game. There's no time limit, which I love. Navigon
Greg, the first screen is definitely the only one that'll give you a problem on Navigon. Fortunately, it's not cluttered, and there's only 4 buttons that you need to use. Also, along the bottom of the screen is a series of tabs like settings, Map manager etc, that are accessible. the 4 buttons can't be flicked to reliably, so you have to put your finger down on them, and then tap with another finger. The first time you enter Navigon, you'll be kicked into the Map Manager so you can select and load some maps. Just go down the list of states and provinces, double tapping the maps you want to load onto the phone - It'll say for downloading after you tap them. Then scroll to the bottom and double tap on accept changes. Then wait a good while until all the maps load - it can take a while. The buttons on the main screen are: 1) upper left: Address 2) upper right POI (points of interest) 3) bottom left: My destinations 4) bottom right: take me home place your finger in those general quadrants until you hear the button spoken, thenn tap the screen with another finger whilst still touching the button. Address: is where you'll plug in an address that you already know. POI: is the most useful in my opinion and is where you can find various points of interest nearby, in a specific city, or nationwide. once you find a destination, or POI, save it as a favorite and it'll show up in the next button - My destinations. My Destinations: is a list of all the addresses you've saved from either the Address or POI screens. Take Me home: is a dedicated button for getting you back to your home address from wherever you may be. Take a good look around in the settings tab (accessed from the main screen), and figure out what all the various settings are.Any questions about them give a shout. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Or is there a more detailed explanation on a web site than in the game help? Thanks, Phil -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. VO can be heard only through my ear phones
This has happened to me several times since owning iPhones (3GS, and now a 4). The problem has always been lint, or some other obstruction in the microswitch of the earphone jack. When you insert the earplugs into the jack, it closes, or opens, (I can't remember which) a small switch that diverts output from the speaker to the earphones. When some dirt or lint gets into that jack, it can do the same thing and divert the output from the speaker to the phones. If you have a sighted friend, they can look down into the jack (its lit with a blue LED at the bottom of the hole) and see if there's anything in there. I've actually sucked out the lint with a good blast of air, either from my mouth or a can of compressed air and solved the problem that way. It may take some doing, but I'll bet this is your problem, and a can of compressed air is a good thing to have handy. Or, try sucking really hard on the jack (I'm not kidding). It may dislodge any junk that's in there keeping the microswitch open. good luck. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. vanishing iPhone ap?
do a search for the app from your search screen (left of the first home screen). That'll tell you if its actually on the iPhone, If you've got the name right that is. This happened to me once and it turned out that the app wound up in a subfolder somehow and was the reason I couldn't find it on any of my screens. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Navigon
Another vote here for Navigon. I just used it to get to, and around, at the connecticut shore. Worked flawlessly as usual. All you need do is get past the main screen which is a bit touchy, and then the app works like any other extremely accessible app. I like it because it isn't dependant on a data connection. BTW: from Lois's post I just learned what the unidentified set of numbers on the screen is - the Estimated Time of Arrival. That was bugging me. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. CD barcode scanning app
Hi Richard, I haven't tried o moby, but I have tried red laser. red laser reads the bar code, but doesn't have any matching material in its database. I think RL is mostly for grocery items - that's all I've ever used it for. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. recovering lost iTunes files
I had a hard disk crash a while back and lots of files got lost. But, I still have them on my iPhone4. How can I sync the iPhone with iTunes so that the good files on the phone replace the corrupted files on the Hard Disk iTunes library? If I delete the files out of iTunes, then sync, will that put the iphone files into iTunes, or will it also delete them off the phone? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. CD barcode scanning app
Is there a app that'll scan the barcodes on CD's and tell me what the CD artist/title is? I used Noogle Noggles for this purpose before that app went away and it worked great. Hoping there is something that'll perform as well for scanning CD's -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: Accessible Fruitmachine is available in the App store
Hi Folks, I'm guessing that an Accessible Fruit machine game is a slot machine. Slots or so named fruit machine games are surely belongs to the most preferred games online. Fruit machine has a colorful and exhilarating history that began in the 1800s. However visitors in the past required to visit a land based casino to spin a few, now with the era of the on-line casinos, everyone who have PC and web access may gamble any time they want. In addition a lot of online casinos let you gamble your favorite fruit machine for free or for real money. The first slot machine was invented by Charles Fey in the early 1800s. It was named Liberty Bell. The machine contained symbols of bells and horseshoes on the reels and also gambling cards. The intention of the game was simply to obtain the greatest potential poker hands in order to gain. The users were allowed to hold the reels they wanted to keep and spin the others again, hoping to get a far better hand than the previous one. The simplicity of slot machines is the same as the additionally preferred scratch and win games. All you need is pure luck to gain considerable amounts within a few seconds. That is the most important reason why those types of games are so common amongst the online gamblers all around the world. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Navigon
Hi Eric, That's exactly what I was talking about. And, that's exactly what I used to do when I last used Navigon (last summer). Last week I went on a road trip and used Navigon. It worked fine, but I couldn't get her to repeat herself by tapping on the mileage number you spoke of. Maybe the iPhone, or Navigon, was just acting persnickity that day. Who knows - I'll try it again. thanks P.S. have you done this recently? like, since the last few updates? or, like me, has it been a while since you've used that functionality. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Fostex AR-4i ap?
I have the app, as well as the Fostex iPhone camera mount, and it works great for the iPhone 4, and I assume, because the 4s is the same frame as the 4, that it will work fine with the fostex hardware/app as well. I shot a video with the fostex a while back using the fostex and iPhone4. its on youtube, search for Philhalt, and the video is called alabama banjo dream. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group.
