If you can't wire the devices directly to the router then use homeplug

No both are wired via Powerline Ethernet.
The SB3 and Joggler are synced as a group and the Joggler is plugged

You are correct. IPeng is not an option unless you added a wireless

Correct. And the Squeezeplay OS is designed to work with DHCP as a

DHCP has no affect on network speed at all. It is merely a means of

Just for reference
A static IP is set on the device itself
A reserved IP is set in the DHCP server and says - when the device with

A DHCP also tells devices what DNS server to use so if for example you

Logically they have dispensed with the onboard DAC and moved it to the
Lightning dongle. I suppose it might mean that some high end DAC
manufacturers might enter the market with a replacement dongle.
The points about DRM are interesting.

None of the above is really high end to those downstairs in the

Ah. Now I totally agree about the interference issue. I have a very nice
portable headphone amp. Won't work with an iPhone due to mobile signal
interference but works perfectly with iPod Touch and iPad with iPeng.
So I think we are saying that the iPhone 7 won't have a headphone jack
but there wi

Didn't know that !
The Google ethernet adpater looks interesting. Would be even better if
it was a homeplug though!

I'd suggest that the mirroring approach only fulfills half of the
requirements for a good backup.
What happens if you accidentally delete some files on your main drive
but don't notice for a period of time. A period of time during which the
"deletion" has been written to your backup.
I use rsync
Phillipe's bridges are of course excellent and open up a whole range of
players to the Eco system but unfortunately they all have compromises
IMHO. hi-res, gapless playback, sync etc
The only non Logitech player that fulfills all the criteria to date
seems to be a Pi with DAC. It's the only thing
I have all 3 bridges Phillipe and yes the AirPlay one is the best.

It will be a corruption at one end or other. Most likely at pi end. Try
reflashing PiCorePlayer.

Often wondered. What's the difference between Jivelite + Squeezelite and
Squeezeplay ? Isn't Squeezeplay a GUI for an in built instance of
Squeezelite ?

That's what I thought but have seen people recommend Jivelite +
Squeezelite over Squeezeplay on grounds of audio quality. Any substance
to that ?

Probably a perfectly good system for Vortexbox ! But I suspect the
external HD is one of the issues. USB 1.0.
