that is one of the mods that have been done to a number of the K2s. It enhances
the visual of the front panel. It can be undone, IF and ONLY ifvery carefully,

the K1 has the ability to produce only slightly less power on 15m.
AND it has the ability to handle up to 15v input.. which helps make more power
on 15m.
Most K1s that I've had here can make 4+ watts on 15m. However, at that same

the reception difference between 2 to 4 watts out.. is not
I have also always used mode B, send lots of errors with mode A, am NOT
interested in relearning how to send with mode A, and will not bother with
trying to use mode A. However,if mode A is all that is available.. I WILL use
my SK. Slower, sure, but no errors either.

The beading wire is a great source.. however.. it is insulted or coated with a
not so easy to remove enamel... so care must be taken to remove that BEFORE
trying to tin it. It has a bit more tinsel strength that soft copper, and works
rather nice, once you get the tinning correct.

Thanks Dale….I did change the coax out of the K3 to the amp…then thru the other
troubleshooting configurations…The tuner just grinds away pinned and then stays
that way...

I wonder... if the connections are bright and solid... sometimes the poor
connection to a battery will do this, under low current draw,(during rx)
causing the voltage seen by the load to be under spec. Connections to the
