I never use the ribbon when using MS Word on the Mac. You cannot use keyboard
shortcuts/accelerator keys, and it's very laborious to access the ribbon using
VoiceOver. Much prefer accessing features through the menu bar when using Word
on the Mac.
Using word on a Mac is definitely different tha

When setting up a new Mac mini, iMac, or Mac Studio, you MUST connect either a
mouse or Magic trackPad to get past the initial setup process.
Even if you do not need one of these peripherals because you are a blind

Another source of persistent “beeping” on Macs running the Big Sur or Monterrey
operating systems, is an alert that lets VoiceOver users know that there is a
notification or system dialog present on the screen.
This alert can be disabled as follows:
1. Open VoiceOver Utility using VO + F8.
2.
Thank you for this info. This is really helpful I will look into this.

Once a pointing device is connected, VoiceOver may start on its own. If it
does not, you can use CMD + F5.

When the ribbon first came to Word, I never took to it thus my use
of Word was mininal. Now I will be right at home with Word on the Mac.

On windows, the ribbon is very accessible. There are keyboard shortcuts, called
Key Tips, that are very accessible. These Key Tips do not exist on a Mac, and
I find the ribbon to be worthless when using MS office on a Mac.

Brad,
Wow. You must have heard me griping about that annoying beep. Thanks for the

Hi all,
I’ve always been kind of intrigued by the possibility of doing this, so I
wondered if anyone else is using voice commands to control their Mac. If yes,
are you using voice control, or are you using Siri? What are people’s thoughts
about the two options? Right now, Siri on the Mac seems
Hi Donna,
While I cannot speak to your personal setup, I am told, both in
documentation, and by apple staff that one can use voiceover commands via
the voice control method.
it is my own goal, using voice control for some tasks, and voiceover for
others. I have no desire to use Siri for this.
Hi Karen,
It is very doable. I’ve been doing it all afternoon. It takes some getting used
to, because the way you speak commands Hass to echo the actions that you would
take using a mouse or a keyboard. So for example, if you’re in the mail app,
instead of saying something natural like new mes
Hi folks,
Anyone know, even if via another list, of an accessibility contact for
Paypal?
Rather tired of being asked by paypal Canada if I have a friend ho can
run my computer for me.
Because of course a blind person cannot be living on their own.
Thanks,
Karen
Hi Donna,
Are you using a mic on your headphones, or something built into your mac?
Glad to know it is doable, if you think about it though, that is what you
are told when someone gives you computer instructions.
If you click on this application etc.
cheers back,
Karen

Hi Karen,
No, I’m not using a mic. I’m just using the internal one on my Mac book air.

Well, I hope you’re right.
If you have voice control enabled in system preps, it’s on until you turn it
off. I have not found a way to turn it back on once you turn it off, though. So
go into system props, accessibility, voice control, check the checkbox to
enable it, and you should be good to
Hi!
Siri seems to be quite limited in my experience.
Regarding VoiceControl I haven’t tried it as its not yet translated to Swedish.

Do you have a mouse attached? I believe you need one for first boot, you might
also need a display.

Can you attach a mouse and a display temporarily, just to set it up?
If you don’t have any, perhaps you know someone who could allow you to use
theirs just for an hour or so.

Hi folks,
I think a list created in Word will do for me. Here is an example text.
* Read VoiceOver hint for current item
VO-Shift-N
Can I make this a bulleted list and indent the keyboard command? The
asterisk simulates a bullet in the example. Can a style be created to
accomplish this?
By default a line starting with "* " (asterisk followed by a space will start
creating a unordered list. These items will have a different style, but I
don't remember its exact name.
I also don't know how the different levels of lists get their own prefix. for
example, if you create a bulleted
Voice control is fairly powerful, but it does expect that you know what is on

I also just checked and there is a action in shortcuts to turn on/off voice
