Evegreen does inform the patron when the hold limit is reached and no
further holds are allowed until you drop below the limit. I have been
placing a lot of holds lately to fix records or assign parts so I've hit
the 50 limit often. As soon as even one hold is checked out to me I can
place anothe.

What about suspending the hold and then editing for an activate date? You

It does look like a bug. I just tried in 3.0.2 to use both edit functions
while merging and the edits were not saved to the merged record.

You can delete copies using copy buckets without deleting the record
provided that it isn't the only item attached or that your settings don't
automatically delete the bib record when the last copy/vol is deleted.
