purchased several Victrolas that were injured because
someone used a screwdriver to pry open the locked lid.
I've always wondered what was that knucklehead
thinking? (Can you tell where this is going?) Today

Thanks for all the suggestions for opening my Victrola
lid. I didn't have to resort to any lubrication in
the lock. A friend helped and through a combination
of gently flexing and pushing the lid, we were able to
operate the lock. Mike, if your check is in the mail,

With that said I certainly would like to own and would be absolutely
thrilled to have examples of both in my collection. The cost thereof , however
will probably dictate that future purchases if they can be found will be less
expensive after market machines.

I was out antiquing and ran across an oak cygnet bell for sale. It is missing
the hanger bracket and the flange ring where the elbow attaches as well as the

Did you get your answer about the III mechanism fitting in a 1-A cabinet? It
will install just fine and the crank lines up but it's not correct. The 1-A
mechanism is a 2&4 minute player and mechanically quite different from the
1-B and III mechanism, which are the same. I personally would no
