Hello vinzv,
This is a very good idea. I've been thinking along the same lines myself but
I just wasn't able to put it into words. Also my lack of experience in the
area of marketing put me off suggesting the idea.
If there is anything I can do I would be more than happy to help in any way
Hello again,
Cheers for the replies!
onpon4,
I guess it might have been Trisquel 6.0 I meant. I thought it was 5.5 as I
remember in the beginning being able to window snap and then window snapping
disappearing for a long time. I must have had Metacity set instead of Compiz
in 6.0.

Hello,
As regards Window Snapping. I'm wondering why it is no longer a feature in
Trisquel 7.0 too.
As far as I remember, window snapping was a feature in Trisquel 5.5, but ever
since Trisquel 6.0 it is no longer a feature.
Also Trisquel 5.5 featured a very nice transparent menu panel by

Hello,
So I've been testing Trisquel 7 amd64 and so far I'm impressed! I've
installed a couple of the amd64 images as they came out but I have one query.
I've tried three different amd64 images; the first one containing Abrowser as
the inclusion of IceCat in Trisquel 7 wasn't announced yet;
Woops! Meant to edit out the first sentance of my comment above! lembas

Thanks lembas!
Hi again lembas,
Hello,
So I installed the latest Trisquel 7 image and grub2 requested a username and
password by default when trying to boot any other OS other than Trisquel. All
my attemps at the credintials resulted in being redirected by to the main
grub menu. Here's what I did to get
Hi again lembas,
I figured it out and I managed to remove the username and password request
from grub.
I opened a terminal and entered the following command to see the username and
password credentials:
sudo cat /etc/grub.d/01_PASSWORD
Then I entered the following command to edit the 01
Hi lembas,
Thanks so much for the quick reply! I hope to be able to purge my computer of
non-free stuff soon too. Most of my computer is free at least due to Debian
being free by default.
So I followed the path to 01_PASSWORD and I'm wondering, how do you open this
file to edit it. I can'
Hello,
So I'm running the latest image of Trisquel 7 amd64 on my Acer notebook and
I've installed Trisquel alongside Windows and Debian.

Hello,
I had the same problem too. Performance isn't affected in any way, it just
looks scary :-P
Anyway, the link above says to enter this command:
sudo apt-get remove libpam-smbpass
It did the trick for me! Hopefully others will find it helpful too.

Hello,
Anyone have any experience using Kongoni? Apparently it's free as in freedom
but it's not endorsed by the FSF.
It looks impressive but it seems to be dormant at the moment. Hopefully it
will come back to life because it looks user friendly and we could do with

Thanks Legimet for your help. I will check that out next time I'm
reinstalling Trisquel :-)
Hmm, the sources seem to be down.
Brilliant news!
I entered
'sudo apt-get install icecat'
and it's output:
'Package icecat is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source'
How do I go about adding the repo to insta
Hi again,
Thanks Legiment, that makes sense. Next time I'm installing Trisquel I'll try
that solution. It's not worth the hassle right now :-P
Is there an option in Trisquel's installer to specify that you want a
case-sensitive filesystem?
And yes I'm using Nautilus 3.10 in Trisquel 7.0 b
Hi,
Sorry for my lack of info.
sudo debsums -s just returns 'command not found' ??
The root file system is ext4 and I have a /home file system in xfs.
The name is only a case change but that is strange. Why must I give it a
temporary name first? Thanks for the solution but it's just strange
Hi,
Ever since I first used Trisquel I often get this error when trying to rename
folders. Just wondering why as it makes no sense as there is no other video
file on my entire computer with the same name.
Anbody know what this issue is and how to solve it?
Any help would be appreciate.

Thanks Magic Banana,
Decided I would reinstall the latest image as it contains all the default
programs and the earliest image doesn't contain many programs.
Looking good so far anyway!

Hi,
I'm currently running:

Hey again,
Just noticed there being multiples of the same alpha images of Trisquel 7 on
the images page linked above by jxself. Only difference is the dates and
size.
For example:

Hi everyone,
Currently testing Trisquel 7.0 amd64 out on a very new Acer Aspire E1-570 and
it works like a charm.
I'm loving the look and feel of it!
Keep up the great work!

Thanks Magic Banana, that command is handy to know.
Really looking forward to Trisquel 7.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks very much. I appreciate the info! Can't do much without a browser! :-O
If one was to be mad and upgrade now would you simply change 'toutatis' in
the sources.list file to 'belenos' and then enter the above commands?
Steve
Hi Everyone,
Loving the progress of Trisquel these days. It runs very beautifully on my
Acer Aspire E1-570. Thank you to all involved!
I would like to do an upgrade to Trisquel 7 from Trisquel 6 without doing a

This is fantastic news! Absolutely delighted! Thanks for the news jxself! :-)
What does 'debootstrapped' mean? :-P

Strange! The pointer to System Monitor was in System Settings for me as far
as I can remember. I'll have to check again next time I'm back on the laptop.
Which version were you using?

Hi antisnob,
It was a 64bit edition I installed (amd64) without the fsf software included.
Hi Dave_Hunt,
I'm just happy to help out any way I can. Not much difference between 6.0 and

Hey Everyone,
Found out Trisquel 6.0.1 is compatible with UEFI boot.
Chanced installing Trisquel 6.0 on a brand new laptop (Acer Aspire E1-570)
and it refused to boot in UEFI mode but then I tried Trisquel 6.0.1 and it
worked like a charm :-)

Hi Magic Banana,
Thank you so much! Worked a treat! :-)

Hi,
I'm just wondering how I can install the latest Linux-Libre Kernal in

Hi Axgb,
I've read that Libreoffice Draw can be used as an alternative to Microsoft
Publisher. It definitely has the capabilities to open and edit Publisher
files anyway. Also Scribus is supposed to be good.
Hope this helps!

Hi Xilixi,
Kontalk is a fantastic free alternative to WhatsApp. I highly recommend it.
It's easy to use and completely free as in freedom :-)
It can be downloaded from F-Droid or Google Play.

Thanks for the helpful info! I'll be sure to follow your advice and get
testing.
Thanks again!

Hey again,
Okay after keying in 'apt-get update' followed by 'apt-get dist-upgrade' into
a terminal, I get a message stating there are 0 upgrades available.
So I'm guessing the only option to upgrade to 6.0.1 is to do a fresh install?
Is there any official date set for release?
Cheers,
Stev
Hi again,
Thanks very much Dave. Good to know as I like to help out and test Trisquel
any way I can.
Also according to Andrew above, one can still upgrade from 6.0 by typing the
following into a terminal:
'apt-get update' and 'apt-get dist-upgrade'
Is this still true?
As far as I know F
Hi,
So what currently is the story with Trisquel 6.0.1?
Can one upgrade from 6.0?
Is there much difference between 6.0 and 6.0.1?

Hello,
I'm using Trisquel GNU/Linux 6.0 amd64. I recently installed Debian along

Thank you so much Magic Banana! Next time this issue happens when I'm booting

Sorry that the pictures are terribly unclear. I don't have access to a good

Thanks again in advance if anyone can help.

I'm running Trisquel 6.0 32bit with Gnome and discovered a minor issue here:

This should be known before people download the FSF version as it's much more
