Thank you everyone. I remember this happening once earlier as well; some
years back. Now, this is clear to me, and I will hopefully not panic the
next time something like this pops up.
I will use the link given to make the necessary changes.

  Payal,

This is incorrect. You will have to disable less secure authentication and
switch to use dedicated passwords for outlook access. I am using gmail too and
have not received any such notification.

I suggest you go with Office 365. You will need to pay yearly I think it is
around Rs. 6000 but this way, you get continuous updates and can forget about
office and work.

Google is ending support for less secured apps like outlook and not for
MSOffice. If one still wishes to use outlook for Gmail access, he/she may go to
google account settings and activate 'access to less secure apps, or one may
generate a 16 digit key to login to gMail.

Re: [AI] MS Office vs Office 365

2022-05-01 Thread drbsmkumar
Hello all,
I use office 365 which is office 2016 version. I use Outlook for two gmail
accounts, one official and one my person.
I have not received any message either on my official or personal email
indicating Google will stop its support from May 30.
As regards the usage of the key of office 2016 to Microsoft’s 365, it is not
possible. Though both are same versions, but one is a single purchase and
Microsoft’s 365 is a subscription-based. Hope it helps.

Re: [AI] MS Office vs Office 365

2022-05-01 Thread Vaibhav Saraf
Hi Payal,

There are times when I need to look into 3 gmail accounts and it may grow
upto 5 looking into my mother's as well. I do open all in separate tabs
within the same browser window.

Gmail web also has a feature of turning on desktop notifications but I
haven't tried them personally myself. Not sure if that will interest you.

If you want to continue using gmail on Outlook then you would need to
explore if you can use the same key with Office 365, which I think you
should be able to do. Else you have to get a fresh license.

Thanks,
Vaibhav

2022-05-01 Thread Payal Ki Jhankar
Since I use Gmail both on Web and my account linked to Outlook-that is
where the problem lies, Resume.
Google is labelling these as less secure apps, and hence I will not be able
to use my gmail account on Outlook. That is the context. Apologies if I
have not been clear enough.
I have been thoroughly confused by this entire thing myself, and thought I
should find out details if I need to upgrade. I find using web mail okay
for one account, but are use at least four Gmail accounts simultaneously-at
some point or the other in the day.

Outlook belongs to Micro Soft company I don't know how and why google
will end support for Micro Soft. if you want to use outlook for office
work then you can go for web version outlook. if you want email client
for personal use then there are few open source apps like Mozilla
Thunderburd. I didn't understand content.

Hi Payal,

Maybe I don't have enough context here and I am assuming that you mean
"Microsoft" instead of "Google".

Once the support ends you won't get any technical support from the company
in case of any issues but you can still continue using the app.

>From whatever I have learnt in the past probably your Office 2016 key can
be used in Office 365 as well, but I maybe wrong in this regard.

Thanks,
